Boathouse Bistro in Mullingar

Amazing seafood. Up with the best across Ireland. Black sole, scallops, potted crab all amazing. But the star of the show is the chowder. I've tried a lot of chowder across West Cork, Clare, Galway and Connemara and to me this is the best chowder I've ever had. It has more lemon to it than others I've had before but was beautifully balanced and loaded with seafood. Had to go back a 2nd time to have it again, when in the area. Top notch.

Wow! So we came here on a whim. Too much rain to golf. So off the beaten path I almost turned around. So glad I didn’t! From the second Vlad, from Ukraine said hello it was fabulous! He told me about the chowder. Said it was 6th best in Ireland. If you find a better please email me ASAP and I will be there! Fish fabulous✅ Ribeye fabulous ✅ Only go here if you want a great meal, great service and amazing view and ambience 🤷‍♂️

Very good restaurant near Kenmare. Good fish and a beautiful setting.

We were looking for a place to eat, and it exceeded my expectations. The food was delicious, and the waiter's service was brilliant. He tried to understand us and made every effort to speak a little Spanish, which we appreciated :-). The place is spectacular!!! Fantastic views. 100% recommended.

We pass The Boathouse en route to Derrynane in the summer & don't know why we haven't stopped there before as we have been missing out on this gem! We had a fantastic lunch there recently. The fish & chips was scrumptious - the best I've tasted in a long time. My husband had steak with roast vine tomatoes, garlic butter & chive mash - equally delicious. We tried the desserts also - fried ice-cream with butterscotch sauce and lemon meringue ice-cream, both equally yummy. The portions were generous & on a sunny day, the setting is sublime. Several tourists from the US around us and couldn't help hearing everyone 'oohing & aahing' about their food too. Service was professional & friendly. We were too busy eating to take photos of our meal but highly recommended. We will definitely be back!

Excellent food and service, the beetroot wellington was divine! Reasonable price for the quality of food, would definitely recommend.
