Boojum in Limerick

Food was ok The main draw for me is when I go in to sit in the corner to have a cheeky cry, the staff don't really make a fuss. They say "it is ok just cry it out young fella", and by god do I. The last time I went in there I cried because my dog was missing. Music choices from the staff are decent and did help to mask the noise I was making

It won't blow your mind but it also won't let you down, good for a quick lunch.

Overall mediocre, rice was undercooked, meat was underseasoned. But it did taste vaugly like Mexican food.

I was not impressed with the state of the food serving area, it was super messy and all the foods on offer were intermingled with each other. No care was taken to give a good service and good quality food, it was sloppy and I asked for the Burrito Bowl with Lime and coriander rice but it was mixed with Mexican rice due to cross contamination of spoons and dropping food into the wrong containers. The serving staff then had no hairnets on and both had long hair in low ponytails that was swishing about the place while they were serving and this is not hygienic at all.. Now the staff were friendly but this store needs a lesson in food hygiene ASAP .. I have worked both as a chef and waiting staff over the years so I am aware places can get busy but its no excuse for lack of hygiene and cross contamination of foods..

Really cool place, sort of Subway style where you work your way along and select your ingredients. My boyfriend got a burrito (no photo) and I got hard shell tacos. Lots of vegan fillings available, different flavours of rice, at least 3 main “protein” options including the plant-based pork (highly recommend!) and the vegan 3 bean chilli filling which my boyfriend had and said was great, definitely something for everyone. They even had vegan sour cream!! Really good portions and flavours. 3 levels of spice on offer for the salsas (mild, medium, spicy) - I went with mild and my boyfriend had spicy - mine had a kick that I could just about handle, nothing too crazy but my boyfriend’s was prettyyy spicy! It’s more like a fast food vibe, than a dine in experience. Also serve beers and soft drinks. There seems to be a toilet but it’s number coded, so I’m not sure if it’s staff only or they just need to let you in. We didn’t want to wait for staff to use it so we just left and went to the nearest pub, this was a bit of a let down as it was inconvenient.

On the one hand, this is clearly the Subway of mexican food; on the other, that's not a bad standard at all. Not showstopping, but solid and dependable. I had pulled pork tacos - good fresh salsa, crunchy taco shells,and plenty of cheese on top - and my food all managed to stay more or less intact while I was eating. The pulled pork could have had a little more flavour, but it wasn't bland. The seating was comfortable enough (and colourful), none of the lights were flickering, and the bathrooms were decent. I'd say this place ranks up around Burger King if you're feeling nibblish, or perhaps a little higher if you feel like veg.
