The combination of veg soup and pesto sandwich was both affordable and delicious. The mesmerizing view of the Irish Sea, with its various shades of blue, made it worth staying all day long to enjoy the scenery and chill vibes 🏝️

The place itself is lovely. Big windows overlooking the sea. Staff is also very friendly. It was our first time there. We ordered a full Irish breakfast (14.50 €). The food, consisting of two sausages and two rashers, white and black pudding, an egg and a hash brown, and beans were okay but the whole breakfast turned out to be only a half full Irish breakfast. Important parts like mushrooms and tomato were missing, and normally, one gets two slices of toast, not only one. For that price, I would have expected a real full breakfast. The tea, however, was good and strong. Now, I wasn't totally impressed (considering the price), but we will give it another try sometime and eat something else.

Placed our order and was waiting quite a while. I noticed that a table of 4 and a further table of 5 all who ordered after us were served their meals and no sign of ours! When I drew this to the attention of the waitress she was really apologetic and explained that the order wasn't placed with the kitchen. She handled the situation very well by informing us that we only need pay 50% of the bill and also offered a complimentary beverage. When the food arrived it was lukewarm at best. At this stage we were too embarrassed to say anything or send it back! All in all a most disappointing experience.

Experience was not too bad but would not rate it as a 5 out of 5. One notable issue was the excessive noise level. I believe the ceiling or some other factor related to soundproofing may be the cause. In contrast, when we visited another location, the noise level was significantly lower. Perhaps background music could be introduced, or there may be other measures that could be taken to address this issue. The overall atmosphere felt chaotic, as if one were entering a large call center where everyone is speaking simultaneously.

the brick house

20/10/2024: Nice staff and excellent food. Highly recommend!!
19/10/2024: The Brick House served us our best meal during a 10 day family trip in Ireland and Scotland. We stopped in for lunch on a whim after a stroll through Skerries and didn't expect much, but we were blown away by the quality of the food and the service was great as well. The wait staff were kind and attentive. They seemed puzzled why a group of American tourists would be visiting their humble place in Skerries, which is criminal, because the food is so good. We ordered the following: Mussels - supremely fresh, small mussels (which makes them sweeter) in a garlicky white wine butter sauce. A very generous portion despite being part of their tapas deal where you get to pick several dishes. Pork belly bites - rendered crispy as they should be in a mildly sweet and tangy bbq style sauce. Very tasty. Seafood chowder - reminds me of my grandmothers oyster stew. A variety of fresh seafood in a light broth with little droplets of seafood fat. Tastes like childhood! Calamari - lightly battered and fried crispy, tender, with a solid sweet and spicy thai chili sauce. Hot wings - medium large wings fried crispy and juicy, generously sauced. Wings done right! Someone in our party also ordered a salad, possibly a chicken caeser, and they were happy as well though I didn't taste it. The pints were poured proper and promptly! If I had to levy a criticism, it would be that the outdoor seating in the back was tight for our party 5. We may have asked for that that though (don't recall), so this is a very minor gripe. Overall if you want quality, affordable food with friendly, down to earth service, I can't recommend The Brick House enough. Do it! Note - I would typically reserve 5 stars for a truly perfect experience, but I feel the need to indicate 5 stars here to offset the fact that the Brick House only has an overall rating of 4.4 stars. In this day and age, it can be difficult for a restaurant to stay busy with a star rating of less than 4.5, and I feel The Brick House certainly deserves to stay busy!
