Great spot at the foot of Croagh Patrick, pints were good. Great atmosphere on a Saturday evening of August bank Holiday weekend. I suppose Mayo winning Sam helped but as a Kerryman it was great to hear the banter.
There's a great atmosphere in this pub. The back garden with its mountain views is well worth a visit, and it's the closest place to go after climbing to the summit. The beer tastes heavenly. You can order beer inside the pub, but not in the garden area where food is served. You can also order coffee outside. They have a barbecue and cook right there. My friend ordered carrot soup, and I had the mussels, which were small but perfectly cooked. The sauce was delicious. The pulled pork was also good, but next time I'll order a burger—that is, if I ever climb that mountain again, which I doubt. I almost died. The service was fantastic, fast even though it was packed, and very friendly.
A lovely spot. Only improved now. With the misunderstood Heron out the back. A great pint in a beautiful spot right at the foot of the reek. You really can't go wrong
