The pints are fine and fine are the pints. I popped in to read a book and made some friends along the way. I'm now a full blown alcoholic and I wouldn't change a thing.

Lovely bar. Spotless. Friendly, polite staff. Well decorated, felt comfortable. Will definitely go there again. Nice smoking area too.

The Fatted Calf

26/11/2025: We had a wonderful evening at Fatted Calf. The ambiance was beautiful, and lovely background music played softly. The welcome was warm and inviting. The service was attentive, humorous, and never intrusive! The food was divine! The combination of the appetizer with the black pudding croquettes, the scallops, and the various sauces was an explosion of flavor! Thank you! For the main course, the meat was tender and juicy with a delicious chimichurri sauce. Wonderful! The desserts were simply amazing! Our restaurant visit was the highlight of our time here in Athlone!
