The rooms were excellent. The hotel itself is beautiful both inside and outside. Beautiful building. Pool was great and the health club which guests have access. The restaurant also has some really lovely food.

Lovely venue, staff were fine, not helpful, no facilitation of an early check in, as we had to get ready for a christening. Had to wait until 16:00. Also check out at 11:00, with no late check out given.

Great location. Lovely historical building. Beautifully decorated inside. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel needs to work on online info. There was no mention of any food menus, pool times online which is important to most travelers now.
The lighting in the room was a real issue, there were no ceiling lights, no lights above the tea station so you couldn't even see what you were doing. There was no proper lighting in the room or bathroom at all so as a woman it wasn't easy to your do makeup.
The cups and glasses were not cleaned properly (maybe the poor cleaners couldn't see in the poorly lit room). However it is a basic thing to get right as a housekeeper.
The tea station had one tea bag for each of us which was very stingy.
Down at the bar we sat for drinks, the table remained visibly dirty throughout our whole sitting. The barman even set our drinks down on the table on top of the dirt without mention of cleaning the table.
I understand it isn't peak time so the hotel probably has a "skeleton" staff. This should not effect standards and if it does, staff numbers should be upped.

Superb experience, staff were excellent, food superb and very comfortable warm rooms
Only drawback is the long walk one can have to get to and from your room if located in one of the wings
Lots of attention to details like having vending machines for snacks and drinks, clear signposting to rooms, plenty of info in the rooms about food and drinks available etc
