Food was great. I didn't have cash as they only accept cash and the waitress (not sure if owner) told me she trusted me so I ran to the ATM and gave her the cash and apologised and she said it was alright 🙏 Thanks a lot for the kindness and hospitality.

Popped in for my first pint of Guinness in Ireland, was instantly greeted by the owner and felt welcomed, the best Guinness I've ever had, had some good conversation with a well informed history buff patron, received some good tips of where to eat and go for the sites down the west coast.. didn't try the food, but if locals are eating there, must be good,

Nice bar with a lovely outdoor seating area

One of the most hospitable establishments I have ever visited. My brother and I were conducting a motorbike tour of Ireland and our stop on our 5th night was Athenry. We decided to walk around the town and take in the sites of the Old castle, barracks and Abbey as well as stopping in Dan’s bar for a Guinness. On ordering our drinks I realised it was a cash only bar so headed back to the B&B town get cash whilst my brother remained at the bar. On return, my brother indicated that the gentleman at the end of the bar who happened to be Kev, the owner had covered our drinks. I offered a return drink later and he stated no need. He then paid for our 3rd round and wouldn’t accept anything in return. We ended up spending a couple of hours having a laugh with him and the barmaid hearing some great stories and advice for the rest of our trip. A thoroughly enjoyable visit and one I would recommend to anyone. The food looked fantastic as well and by all accounts the breakfast is the best in Athenry.
