I came to Govinda's after a recommendation from a work colleague. I wouldn't say it's a restaurant, more of a diner, maybe a canteen. The place is much bigger than it seems from the outside. Inside, clean, tidy, quite modest. About 15-20 tables, but they fill up quickly, so don't be impatient, you'll be seated and eating soon ;) And now about food... I haven't eaten such diverse and delicious food for a long time. Everything was warm, perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Even though it is some variation of Indian food, there was a lot of spices, but not excessively, and it was not too spicy. For me 5/5 :) The idea of eateries is that you pay for the food on your plate. The plate was filled to the brim, they definitely do not spare the customers the food ;) On the day I visited (Saturday), I had 2 plate sizes to choose from. The bigger one cost 18e. You had to pay extra for samosa, mango lassi (4 or 5 e) and dessert (I didn't order it, so I wasn't interested in the price). Tip: take a smaller plate, because the large one is a really big portion ;) You can pay in cash and by card (when paying by card, you immediately get a question about an additional text on the screen). A place in the very center of Dublin, 3 minutes from Szpila. The service was very nice and friendly. The toilet is down stairs, so access is difficult for people with mobility limitations. Quick summary: I'll be back!

The food is blessed by lord Krishna and is fully Satwik. I.e. made without any Onions and Garlic. Hare Krishna.

Really good. Food tastes really good, staff is patient and it's on the cheaper side. Only minor issue is variety in mains, but the food they do have is really nice regardless.

It is a long story, but I have a personal connection to this restaurant. I have been eating here for years. For a small amount of money you get an incredible amount of food and everything is made with soul. It is absolutely fantastic vegetarian food of the highest quality. There is no downside to this restaurant. The religious art on the wall is very pleasing on the eye and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming.

Jaipur

02/04/2025: Nice place to go for Indian food.Too expensive though.
22/03/2025: I've been meaning to try Jaipur for years, but it took a friend visiting from Canada to get me in the door. I can't possibly do the food justice in a review but I will say that it was easily the best Indian food I've had in 15 years. I have found many restaurants in Montreal & Dublin a let down in the last decade with bland, flat sauces, low-quality ingredients, and the cardinal sin: tough bought-in naan. Jaipur is the opposite of this: every dish fragrant and balanced with exciting textures and elegant touches to elevate every part of your meal. The vegetarian selection is fabulous - our starters were exceptional & unique (photo attached of the menu description). The sag paneer was rich and luscious but also fresh and bright. My friend's meat thali was a feast for the eyes and the stomach. The wine list is very well-chosen and reasonable. We enjoyed a bottle of albarino from Uruguay. They also mix a mean margarita! The service makes Jaipur extra special; warm, genuine and old-fashioned in the best way - professional and elegant. I can't wait to take my family there as soon as possible and it will become a regular spot for special occasions. Thank you for such a lovely evening and a memorable meal!
