Recently discovered this pub while on a drive with my wife. We had heard that the food was beautiful. I had the fish pie and my wife had the roast beef. It really was superb food, and we cannot wait to go back again. My only complaint was that there was far too much potato topping on the fish pie.

The hatchet bar and restaurant on the outskirts of the county Dublin an meath boarder... The food is amazing and good quality well worth the money... The staff are very nice and pleasant to the customers .... There is a very spacious beer garden and plenty of parking to the back .... I would highly recommend the hatchet for a bit to eat if you are in the area or passing through.....

The Valley House Bar

12/10/2025: We were staying in Dooagh and happened upon The Valley House. Stayed for a few pints and a chat. Absolutely class place, extremely friendly service. We'll check out the accomodation and food on our next visit.
30/09/2025: What a wonderful find on Achill Island! A hidden Victorian house by the sea. A grand estate with a tiny Irish pub in the back. A must visit! The hostel was very well furnished and a comfortable night’s rest. I was very impressed! Breakfast was very generous and a wholesome stay.

The Derg Inn

16/12/2025: I love eating Chowder soup here, it's the only place where they cook it really well, and their desserts melt in your mouth.
16/11/2025: Had lunch recently, it was my favourite place to eat for a while. Something has changed. Roast of the day -beef was very poor quality and overcooked, tasted like a rubber,vegetables not seasoned very bland,crème brûlée it used to be served with scoop of ice cream and biscuits, none of these is served now. For what you get it's hugely overpriced, luch for 19€ and a bit of custard 9€. Only big plus on decorations but unfortunately food was not worth the visit.
