Rooms are lovely and the hotel in general is really nice. But very disappointed though as I got my baby to sleep and wanted to order room service. Called twice with no answer and then had to call reception just to be told I couldn't order food, I could get it from outside if I wanted. They advertised 24hour room service. Really bad for a hotel of this standard in my opinion.

Highly recommend Hillgrove Hotel & Spa. Myself, my husband and our two children visit this hotel on an annual basis. This proves, in a nutshell, how truly exceptional this place is. The staff go above and beyond in helping their guests and there are a wide range of facilities available to suit all age groups. A big thank you to Anoja who, as always, made our stay so special.

Stayed here last night with 2 friends (a mini hens). Prior to arrival I had phone calls from staff confirming booking and clarifying rough time of arrival. Upon arrival, we were greeted with "hello Lauren, welcome to the Hillgrove" by a friendly male member of staff on reception. I responded shocked asking how he knew my name, he said "because you are famous here in the Hillgrove". It was a really special touch. The staff in the restaurant were the perfect balance of friendly, attentive, showed genuine interest and best wishes for the bride to be. The food was so impressive, the vol au vent for starter was like a meal in itself, absolutely delicious, and the beef melted apart as I put my fork into it. Staff couldnt have made the stay any more pleasant. A lady of a manager who served us at dinner gave her time upon check out to chat with the bride to be and was genuinely happy for her and had good fun talking about life and marriage etc. The hotel itself is very family friendly and accessible. Loads of children happily playing, lots of resources for them, colouring pages, nice relaxed atmosphere for families to sit and relax and the children happy, saw a number of children and adults in wheelchairs too, was great to see so much inclusion and happiness around us. Overall a fantastic experience, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Compliments to the staff (including the staff behind the scenes, chefs, cleaners etc). Our experience here will be hard to beat purely because of its staff and their personal, kind touch. Thank you for a fabulous stay.

Was there last night with my family and had a great time. Extremely kids friendly with various kids clubs, swimming pool and a wee cinema. Staff is very friendly and the food is lovely. We will be going back soon. Highly recommend this place, especially for families with kids.

I recently stayed at the hotel and here are my thoughts:
The Negatives:
- The bar area was absolutely filthy, it was busy yes, but I was sat down at a table that despite being wiped down still had chairs covered in crumbs etc, fair enough, easily wiped off.
- There was a fire alarm set off at around 9pm/9:30pm, the hotel did have a notification up in the lobby that there would be a test on Monday at 12:30pm but to ignore other ones (fair enough): I did mention this the following morning and was basically told that a guest had set it off, there was nothing they could do etc. A basic apology would have been a nice start. Understand guests can, and will, do stupid things, but at least apologize for the disturbance.
- Kids & Teens run rampant through the halls as late as 10:30-11pm. Staff can't really do much other than request them not to do this I guess? Despite the noise etc.
The Positive:
- Bar staff very helpful and polite despite being under pressure.
- Food in the bar is absolutely fantastic.
- The hotel is very close to the nearby shopping centre.
- The hotel room (family one) was extremely spacious, with a decent sized fridge for storage.
- The breakfast buffet is very, very good.
- The swimming pool was lovely to use and the gym facilities are definitely better than the offerings from hotels I previously stayed at.
- Plenty of amenities for kids and a good selection of events on offer for the future.
All in all, more positive than negative, but the negative is something to be mindful of. I would still recommend a stay here.

Cold and empty feeling. Breakfast is poor there. Rooms are cold and staff impersonal. Would not return.

We had our wedding at the Hillgrove Hotel on 12th September. What can I say in relation, there isn't enough positive adjectives in the dictionary for me to show our appreciation to all the staff at the Hillgrove. The made our special day all the more memorable.
We stayed the night before the wedding day and what I can say is from this point until the moment we checked out, everyone who attended and stayed were treated exceptionally by staff.
Special thanks to Dean Coyne (Wedding Coordinator) for making our day turn out the best it possibly could. From the moment we booked up until the day he made everything so easy, with packages including a variety of suppliers he trusted, who all turned out to be incredible. A massive thank you Dean.
If you're currently planning your wedding day, I would 100% recommend giving Dean and the Hillgrove a visit!
