I photograph weddings for a living and eat at hotel bar restaurants like this all the time. This is some of the best food I've ever had in a place like this. Creative, fresh, balanced, delightful. Honourable mention to the watermelon calamari and lamb lollipops. Thank you.

Had a fantastic night at Oak & Anvil at Killashee Hotel (18th April 2025). First off I must compliment our waitress - Isabella - she was OUTSTANDING. So kind, generous, genuine, turned down the music a bit for us, organized this lovely treat in the photo for us for my Mum's Birthday. We shared a shrimp appetizer - shrimp was not 'fresh off the boat quality' and sauce was weak. Even the bread that came with it was over toasted - too overpriced at €15. My Mum and I both had the Hake Special in the photo - it was outstanding. Mash was beautifully cooked and seasoned, lemongrass sauce was lovely. Broccolini perfectly cooked. For €22 well worth it. My sister had the Burger (they allowed her to substitute the chips for onion rings). She said it was a little on the 'well done' side - but as she didn't specify how she wanted it cooked no reason for complaint on our end! I tried the onion rings myself - very nice. It's a €21 burger so definitely on the pricier side if that's ok with you. For dessert I also ordered a Tiramisu. If you're looking for a traditional Italian tiramisu, this isn't quite it. It needed more time to soak and blend. It was a lot of cream in a big bowl & a lot of white chocolate on top. It did taste like Tiramisu - but for €9.50 it could have been more refined and elegant. Overall we had a lovely evening. Our service was bang on - no excessive wait time from the kitchen, no mistakes on the order, everyone was very nice, and to come out and sing Happy Birthday to my Mum was not required but absolutely appreciated. Compliments to everyone.
