Khow Thai in Galway

As an American, this Thai food made me homesick for the US. There was clearly care put into the dishes, with fresh ingredients and large portions, but it was unfortunately bland. The spicy dishes tasted of nothing but spice, and the mild dishes tasted of nothing at all. We were very hungry and gobbled it down, but I want everyone in Galway to know that there’s so much better Thai food out there in the world.

I recently discovered this Thai restaurant in Galway and was absolutely blown away. While the menu includes all the familiar favorites you'd expect—pad thai, green curry, tom yum—what really sets this place apart is the variety of dishes that go beyond the usual. There’s a clear sense of creativity in the menu, offering options that feel both authentic and a little unexpected in the best way. Every dish we tried was exceptional—flavorful and beautifully balanced. It’s rare to find a place that delivers this level of consistency across such a broad range of dishes. This restaurant feels like a real find—perfect for both Thai food enthusiasts and anyone looking to experience something a little different. Highly recommended.

Lovely food. Partner got the crispy duck pad thai. I got the tofu with veg red curry. Lots of flavour and variety of veg. Thursday afternoon, so very quiet. Lovely clean place with well presented, tasty food.

This is a place that takes food seriously. I highly recommend the pork skewers—they carry a wonderful charred aroma. While they may be slightly lacking in tenderness, once soaked in the salad, they take on a fuller flavour and a pleasantly juicy texture.

Despite it doesn’t taste like authentic Thai food, but it is pretty delicious Asian food. And service with a smile, the Thai way. Khop khun kha.
