Our airbnb host requested this and it was absolutely incredible! This is such a beautiful small town, and having a restaurant this fantastic was such a pleasant surprise.
I got the seafood pie and it was the best meal we’ve had while traveling all around Ireland.
They said that their menu changes daily and the fish is based off of what they caught the day before.
There are gluten free options on the menu (seafood pie included!)
€120 for 4 meals and 6 drinks
I had been before around lunchtime and enjoyed the roast of the day a no d well cooked and presented local produce.
We popped in recently and decided to share a starter - mushrooms - which were instantly forgettable.
I decided to have a seafood pie with veg rather than chips and my companion chose gnocchi.
The seafood pie tasted fine with first dip of the fork. It contained small portions of what we called battle board and salmon. Even to my taste it was very salty and was more than 50% mashed potato. The side dish of veg was also largely mashed potato with carrot and pureed swede turnip.
I tasted the gnocchi which was disappointing also.
No new potatoes none of the 'that's good' as previously.
On our scale of 1 - 10 based on Quality/value we both scored is just above a poor 5.
On recommendation we made a reservation for lunch. On arrival I was made feel at home by a warm welcome to a comfortable space. A real West Cork atmosphere where everyone feels important.
The menu was varied but not so extensive as might confuse. Local produce was featured throughout and this was obvious in the flavoursome and beautifully prepared dishes delivered. My party was thoroughly satisfied and replete when we finished our meal.
This was a great referral which I am happy to pass on.
Excellent food was supported by charming staff in a lovely homely atmosphere.
