Kyoto in Waterford

I had eaten here some time ago and am just now getting around to reviewing it. Kyoto is, without a doubt, one of the best Asian restaurants in Waterford. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced, and the service staff are excellent. I noticed that many of the staff are WIT (now SETU) students working part-time. I've been here several times, and a staff member named Charlie (a student from Malaysia) was incredibly helpful, offering great advice on the food and life in Waterford. I highly recommend this restaurant!

I really love Kyoto Waterford, but I’m taking a couple of stars off because every single time we order chef’s selection of sushi (even the larger portion), it only comprises of nigiri & never any maki or uramaki. It’s really frustrating (I like the mix of types, but nigiri is my least favourite). This hardly represents a variety or selection. I had thought that maybe it was because they didn’t want to prepare a whole maki roll & o my use some of it in the platter, but they use a couple of pieces per bento box, so that’s not the reason. I really wish they would change this, or at least actually call it what it is: Chef’s nigiri selection, not a chef’s sushi selection. As it stands, it’s very misleading. If they remedied this, it’d be 5 stars from me.

Very tasty food, extensive menu, very good price. Generous portions. Would highly recommend. We often eat Japanese food and I would rate this highly.
