Fantastic place....all staff were very attentive, food was amazing. Definitely highly recommended it. You get to sit on the upper deck before dinner. You travel along the canel while passing through one lock gate. You then return in a backwards motion to where you started from.
A very nice experience, excellent food
Great service
And a very nice atmosphere ☺️😊☺️😊

La Peniche is one of those rare Dublin experiences that feels truly special from the moment you step aboard.
From the very beginning, there’s a sense that you’re about to enjoy something a little different. As the boat moves gently along the canal, the soft motion, the reflections on the water, and the ever-changing views of the city create a calm, almost dreamlike atmosphere. It’s the kind of setting that instantly helps you switch off and just enjoy the moment — perfect for catching up with friends, celebrating something special, or simply treating yourself to a unique evening out.
The food is exceptional — every dish is beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly made with real passion and attention to detail, and the desserts are absolutely amazing!
What really completes the experience is the service. The staff are incredibly warm, attentive, and genuinely lovely, creating such a relaxed and welcoming environment from start to finish. Nothing feels rushed, and everything flows effortlessly, allowing you to fully enjoy both the food and the setting. Absolutely one of Dublin’s must-try spots, and somewhere you’ll find yourself recommending again and again.

I had a wonderful experience at La Peniche boat restaurant. The weather was lovely, which made the canal cruise even more enjoyable and relaxing.
The three course meal was delicious, and the drinks were definitely the highlight: they paired perfectly with everything.
Overall, a great place to enjoy good food, lovely views and a unique experience. I’d definitely go back!

This restaurant has the charm of dining by the canal, which is one of the reasons I returned for a second visit, this time to celebrate a friend. Unfortunately, the experience was nothing like the first one.
The food was good, but the Bailey’s‑flavoured dessert had no flavour at all. Service was also disappointing, the waiters were barely attentive. I was seated in the aisle, and throughout the evening several waiters brushed past me or pushed my chair. At one point I had to lean my body away just to avoid being hit, which made the whole dinner uncomfortable. I understand the space is tight, but the constant pushing was unnecessary.
The worst part for both me and my friend was the music. It was extremely loud. Even a gentleman sitting next to us commented that it was unbearable and that he wanted to leave because of the noise.
In the end, I paid a €145 bill, which I don’t consider cheap, and for that price I expected much better service. When I mentioned the loud music while paying, the response was a dismissive “OK”, followed by a half hearted “I’m sorry.”
After this experience, I honestly don’t feel like returning, which is a shame because I used to recommend this place often and several friends went because of my suggestions. This time, I wouldn’t recommend it.

La Peniche is a really unique experience for me. Dining while cruising the canal is something you don’t do every day. The trip through the old locks was great craic and added real charm. Food was great, service was sound, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Not perfect, but well worth it for the novelty alone. Would happily do it again.
