I visited this restaurant for a team engagement event with work, and we had so much fun! Honestly, we didn’t expect the food to be as good as it was. I really enjoyed the Aperol Spritz, the charcuterie board was delicious, and the vegan couscous was surprisingly tasty as well. What I also appreciated was that they had a vegan dessert option for people with milk allergies like me — the chocolate brownie was really good! Overall, I would definitely recommend giving this tour a try. It’s perfect for a friends’ outing, team event, or work engagement.

Fantastic place....all staff were very attentive, food was amazing. Definitely highly recommended it. You get to sit on the upper deck before dinner. You travel along the canel while passing through one lock gate. You then return in a backwards motion to where you started from.

La Peniche is one of those rare Dublin experiences that feels truly special from the moment you step aboard. From the very beginning, there’s a sense that you’re about to enjoy something a little different. As the boat moves gently along the canal, the soft motion, the reflections on the water, and the ever-changing views of the city create a calm, almost dreamlike atmosphere. It’s the kind of setting that instantly helps you switch off and just enjoy the moment — perfect for catching up with friends, celebrating something special, or simply treating yourself to a unique evening out. The food is exceptional — every dish is beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly made with real passion and attention to detail, and the desserts are absolutely amazing! What really completes the experience is the service. The staff are incredibly warm, attentive, and genuinely lovely, creating such a relaxed and welcoming environment from start to finish. Nothing feels rushed, and everything flows effortlessly, allowing you to fully enjoy both the food and the setting. Absolutely one of Dublin’s must-try spots, and somewhere you’ll find yourself recommending again and again.

I had a wonderful experience at La Peniche boat restaurant. The weather was lovely, which made the canal cruise even more enjoyable and relaxing. The three course meal was delicious, and the drinks were definitely the highlight: they paired perfectly with everything. Overall, a great place to enjoy good food, lovely views and a unique experience. I’d definitely go back!

This restaurant has the charm of dining by the canal, which is one of the reasons I returned for a second visit, this time to celebrate a friend. Unfortunately, the experience was nothing like the first one. The food was good, but the Bailey’s‑flavoured dessert had no flavour at all. Service was also disappointing, the waiters were barely attentive. I was seated in the aisle, and throughout the evening several waiters brushed past me or pushed my chair. At one point I had to lean my body away just to avoid being hit, which made the whole dinner uncomfortable. I understand the space is tight, but the constant pushing was unnecessary. The worst part for both me and my friend was the music. It was extremely loud. Even a gentleman sitting next to us commented that it was unbearable and that he wanted to leave because of the noise. In the end, I paid a €145 bill, which I don’t consider cheap, and for that price I expected much better service. When I mentioned the loud music while paying, the response was a dismissive “OK”, followed by a half hearted “I’m sorry.” After this experience, I honestly don’t feel like returning, which is a shame because I used to recommend this place often and several friends went because of my suggestions. This time, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Mister Magpie Coffee

11/07/2026: Great coffee, super friendly staff, and seating outside is perfect for people watching!
01/07/2026: A coffee chain's local Ballsbridge favourite, you'll always notice it from a distance, no matter the time of day—it's usually packed with tourists, office workers, and regulars. It's small but cosy, and the menu has all the classic basics, from cappuccinos to lemon cake. Bonus: Mister Magpie partners with Bean Inspired Coffee Roasters, a local Dublin-based roastery that sources and roasts specialty coffee grown by women farmers. Most importantly, they're not too stingy with the ceremonial-grade matcha powder—meaning the matcha latte is consistently vibrant green and full of flavour (a rare gem to find in Dublin, in my experience, so far). Our choice: Matcha Latte (€4.50), Flat White (€4.10), and Raspberry & White Chocolate Cookie (€4.50) — all on point! Bill for two: €13.10 Overall verdict: 10/10 if you manage to get the cool window seating. Otherwise, it can feel quite cramped, especially on the terrace.

La Cocina Cuevas

20/07/2026: Fantastic. Food was delicious and in comparison to some locations prices were reasonable and not overly expensive. Staff were friendly and the little huts that serve as the seating areas were clean and tidy. Worth knowing that it’s BYOB. Will definitely be back.
19/07/2026: Definitely the best Mexican food I’ve had in Ireland but once you go it’s the kind of place you’ll wake up craving and there isn’t anything else that’ll do the trick! Really sounds guys as well, even gave us a jump when the car died. 10/10!
