Loose Cannon is a cute little wine bar with a great atmosphere and a fantastic spot for people-watching. We grabbed seats in the window, enjoyed a delicious toastie, and had some excellent wine. The food and drinks were exactly what we were hoping for. The only downside was the service. This was quite literally the only place we’ve visited in Dublin where we felt unwelcome. There were no smiles, no warm interactions, and the overall vibe felt surprisingly negative. It was hard to tell whether the staff were having an off day or just weren’t particularly interested in engaging with visitors. That said, it’s still a cool spot with good food, good wine, and a charming setting.

The sandwiches are excellent and the wine is very good, a bit pricey but very good.

Cute little place but the toasties were very safe. I would have liked more interesting options with blue cheese or surprising combinations

Wasn’t really welcomed when I came in. Staff seemed preoccupied even though it wasn’t busy. Wasn’t really sure what food was served etc. No food boards on display. And no real assistance. I ordered a cheese toastie and red wine. The food was nice and the wine was ok. But it was expensive for what it was.

The place is amazing, cheese has a great selection, and great wine! However, they have a corkage fee of 15 euro on top of any bottle bought in the bar (not one you bring yourself) which I've never heard of before and definitely put us off a bit! Great cheese but slightly disappointed. Wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a decent bit of wine with your cheese:((

The place is lovely. The staff are kind. And the cheese platter is tasty! However they have a corkage fee of 15 euro per bottle bought IN the bar. (Not even your own bottle) Which was very surprising and disappointing. Doesn't seem to make sense to have such a high corkage fee for bottles bought on the premise itself.

Hardy's Bar

31/03/2026: Fabulous hotel in a great location great staff Fabulous food and great prices would definitely recommend and return when back visiting irland
31/03/2026: We stayed there for two nights! The service is amazing, the people are super kind, helpful and welcoming. The location is absolutely perfect. Not far from Dublin with the Dart, close to the waterfront, close to many shops and restaurants. You can enjoy afternoon tea, and they have their restaurant where we had a good dinner. The kids are very welcome everywhere (there were a lot of families in the hotel). Our room wasn’t super clean (the hotel was full on the day we arrived), and our window offered the view directly to another building. Not the best room probably. Also, the pool area looks amazing on the pictures. In reality it’s not as welcoming and relaxing, even if it’s nice to have. Note that you need a swimming hat and flip flops to access the pool, that they charge on top: 8€ for both. Lastly, the breakfast is perfect if you like Irish breakfast, I would suggest adding more healthy options.

01/06/2026: Great atmosphere and service, nice friendly crowd. Definitely recommend for a few drinks. We didn't have food.
12/04/2026: The local of Conquer Hill, in Clontarf. Nice pub with a bar at the front and a lounge at the side. Nice little outside space, street side, on a leafy street, facing a wall that hides the Dublin Bus garage. Good atmosphere, didnt have food, but it did look good, observing others being served some. Service seemed good and it's a pub ran by Dublin pub legends, the Graingers. Grand spot if you live locally.
