McCarthys Par at Kenmare Golf Club in Kenmare

Not especially difficult course, some uphills on the early holes, one dog-leg and a fair bit of forest. Tricky uphill 220 yard par 3 with raised green. Very pleasant place to play. What makes it special is the attitude of the course staff and local players. Greens are cleared of dew before the first starters, locals give advice on the course. After we finished we went to go into the bar straight off the course, but we’re stopped. Very disappointed it was another stuffy golf club (Ballybunion!) where you had to change to get a drink. But no, just take the spikes off and come on in your socks. Lovely!

Lovely course and reasonably priced for visitors. Walkers beware it is very hilly in spots!

Kenmare G.C. organizes a 2 Sister Classic tournament every July that is the thing I most look forward to all year long.
