Mullichain Cafe in

Nice place near the river. It’s at the border of Carlow and Kilkenny county. Place is around 35-40 min drive from Carlow town. They had lots of vegetarian options and taste was nice. Staff were nice and experienced. Portions was also nice enough and price was also not too bad.

We landed from traditional Irish currachs at convenient steps and were welcomed by the cafe management and staff. Delicious treats, fabulous scenery, and very efficient service. We even took in a few runs at Motte - sliding with local guidance. A true joy.

Seldom do I give full sets of 5 stars but Mullichain Cafe by the Barrow had me from the front door . A warm fire glow inside was very welcoming on our october visit today. A cosy, warm but bright old riverside building inside. Upstairs also homely set up with tables & book shelves. Food was delicious & my tomato soup & bread was as homemade as it gets. It closes at 5.30 I understand. Lovely friendly staff as well, met the owner & he gave us the back story while he helped clear away tables . It closes after Halloween for the winter. Will be back.

We were in town for four days and we stopped by three days for coffee and soup. Friendly and welcoming staff. Beautiful and scenic location. Wonderful and warming coffee, delicious and hearty soups. Worth a stop for sure.

Delicious food, fabulous location!

What a beautiful and tranquil place. Food was delicious and the hazelnut cake was divine (well done to the lady that baked it 10/10). Will definitely return very soon

Found myself back in St Mullins today and were better to have lunch than the Mullichaun Cafe. Nice this time of year as the season winds down. Wonderful Chicken Caesar Salad and the Apple pie and fresh cream perfect. Great location, great chatty service, and wildlife everywhere. Great that pets are welcome too.

Had lunch there yesterday. Lovely food. Staff very friendly. The only drawback was a wasp who insisted in joining me.. But when he saw I didn't have any sweet stuff he left. 😅🐝Was there yesterday no wasps. Lovely food. Fast service.

My wife and I paddled into the quay at St, Mullins shortly after 5 PM when the Mullichain is scheduled to close. Hosts Martin and Mark graciously stayed open for us, and served up a wonderful smoked salmon and salad plate that reflected the care which infuses everything they prepare for their guests. Lovely riverside setting in a beautiful village.
