A wonderful, atmospheric place on the site of an old mill. There are tables inside and along the river, where it is very pleasant to sit, especially in warm weather. It is quiet here and there are no passing cars.
The food is delicious! We took salad, pate and soup.
The service is fast and friendly!

Set on the River Barrow, The Mullichain Cafe is a gem. Offering fresh homemade food. Reasonably priced and staff that are very pleasant and knowable of what's on offer.
not only runs the cafe, but cooks must of the food himself.
Big car park nearby and also a bike hire, you can walk or cycle to graiguemanagh and back, approx 14km round trip along the river Barrow through beautiful scenery.

Absolutely beautiful little place, wonderful staff and very tasty cakes and coffee but unfortunately, at 25 euro for two cappuccinos and two slices of cake , it proved to be just too expensive..... We are both pensioners and can have the same experience for well less than 20 euro elsewhere... Such a shame because it really is a lovely place indeed...

Went for a walk in St Mullins. During Covid this was all shut. Today was the first day of summer time and the weather was beautiful. Absolutely packed with people and the sauna was well attended. The cafe and coffee shop were filled to overflowing. Wonderful to see. Just had a coffee, and it was good coffee. It is the only place for a bite to eat, but even that would not cause it to be so busy unless people were happy with the food. From the attendance I have to conclude that the food is as good as the coffee. 😊

I’d wanted to get here last year but it didn’t plan out, so took my parents and the doggo today for a long drive from Dublin to this fabulous cafe on the banks of river Barrow.
Firstly the cafe - it is absolutely amazing to find a place run by an entrepreneur who is providing excellent flavourful fresh food, beautifully presented in a place full of history - all the while creating employment in a small community. Kudos 🙌
Not only were we looked after, Mr Doggo 🐶 was treated to a lovely bowl of chicken on the house by the very generous and friendly owner…. He has new fan following - tail wagging all the way back to Dublin.
The river meanders through a beautiful lush valley, the walks around here a so picturesque, fills your lungs with fresh air and your soul with tranquility. Visit this gem of a place once and you’ll go back over and over again. I know we will. All at the cafe - thank you - keep up the great work, wishing you very well.
