Food was grand but small portion. deserts were small and very expensive. dinner desert coffee nearly 35eur. I was there at 1.30pm and it was quiet maybe 7 or 8 people. Staff lovely and fast service. Very clean and homely atmosphere

I've driven past here so many times and never thought to pull in. Went in quite late for food and was pleasantly surprised. There was so much choice on the menu and everything was so reasonable. The food and service were impeccable. The portions were massive. Would definitely recommend and will be returning again

Maldron Hotel Portlaoise

27/07/2026: We had a fantastic meal at the hotel restaurant. The food was absolutely 100%—fresh, delicious, and cooked perfectly. Every dish was full of flavour and exceeded our expectations. A special thank you to our server, Jasmine, who was so friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our meal. She made us feel well looked after and really added to the overall experience. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and will happily return the next time we’re here!
13/07/2026: Im staying at this hotel for 8 weeks due to work commitments from the UK. The hotel is fabulous, the staff are great always friendly and talkative. I would like to mention Jasmine in particular she always speaks and is very polite.

The Duck

15/08/2026: Such an amazing dinner here during the week. The location, decor and atmosphere is just gorgeous. The food and service are amazing too.
01/08/2026: My friends loved this place. I liked my starter but main course wasn't even hot. I had confit of duck. Crispy duck no. Overcooked duck yes. 2 courses set menu only was 52 euro. I paid a supplement of 4 euro for duck. Why have a set menu if a supplement is required. Sides were 6 euro each. Its a lovely setting. I wouldn't be rushing back.
