O’Dowd’s in Roundstone

Always lovely to drop in for a pint and a bowl of chowder... Excellent spot...

Well it's an institution. Been here forever. Brilliant service. Food very fresh. Great Guinness. Best in the off season. Great place to drop some conversation bombs.... 😈

Was such a fantastic restaurant with a wonderful view. All the food blew away my expectations. Proper pour pints and lovey staff, really can’t be beat.

With its view of the port and its warm welcome, this local restaurant is a must! :-)

oysters were back,. and. delicious grilled with breadcrumbs and garlic butter. I need more. A grey damp. off-season day, wonderful. NOW back in. June 2024, excellent as ever, but prefer it off season. and returned 24Oct2024. Off season is best, and thankfully it stays open.

We stayed in Roundstone for a week and had planned on making breakfast and dinner most days but we never did because O’Dowd’s Cafe had fab breakfast and we had late lunches or dinner in the pub or restaurant just about everyday. Everyone was so kind and the food was delicious. Basic pub food and also wonderful steaks and seafood. Views are pretty spectacular too. See you next year!

Went here for dinner in mid October, so it was quiet but in off season. The staff were friendly and they were really flexible with the menu (served us some of the bar food in the restaurant, made some small substitutions). The food was very good, the Seafood au Gratin was particularly delicious, and the Shepard’s pie and fish curry were well received. Unfortunately, the soft drinks are served warm with ice which means they go flat quickly. The crumble was very nice but only comes with either ice or whipped cream when it really needs custard or pouring (out of the two I’d go for ice cream). The prices are reasonable for the quality. It was right next to our air bnb and we happily went back several times, so overall would really recommend!

Nicholas was nice and prompt at responding to my reservation request for 10 people. The restaurant is cozy and the surrounding landscape is beautiful. Service was friendly and efficient. I like that they showcase local food and drink items on their menu. They had the best oysters and lamb stew.

The tagliatelle was a little overcooked for our liking. The tasty crumble The crab claws, a little disappointing Good espresso The service is very fast and friendly The view, even at street level, is very pleasant if you are near a window.
