Not the best shepherd’s pie I’ve ever had, but the Guinness was great and the atmosphere was really nice. Definitely a good spot to stop for a pint and enjoy the vibe!

Went to the restaurant after 8pm it was very busy ,fully booked.... but we got table at the bar , bar stuff was very friendly, helpful. We ordered seafood chowder, and fish and chips, food was very delicious 😋 soup was very rich and refreshing with the home made scone. Fish and chips was nicely cooked and crispy battered, chips was fresh. Amazing dinner... and also got the raspberry apple crumble, with cream and ice-cream 👌 super tasty dessert. Highly recommend 👌 👍 👏 🙌 thank you 😊 🙏

An authentic, warm, and unpretentious pub. They serve great seafood with a magnificent view of the bay. The atmosphere is very friendly.

The salmon pasta and toasted sandwiches were good. However, what was disappointing was the waitress not writing down our order and as a result forgetting parts of it and having to be chased for them. Also, a pint of diet coke was an insane €8 (more than a pint of Guinness!)
Getting the bill also difficult and the waitress had to be reminded several times

Seafood chowder was loved by my 5 year old who finished his bowl and tried to lick it clean. Nothing is over salted which I really appreciate. My other son had pizza and though it looked like your typical frozen pizza they must have added extra cheese bc it was so wonderfully cheesy. I had the soup of the day which is the vegetable soup and felt the price and quantity reflected a fair exchange. Most restaurants make the veg soup to salty to give it more flavor so I appreciate being able to taste the blend of vegetables. The cheeses garlic bread was small and would be a pass for us when we come back.

The food is absolutely perfect. The selection of fish dishes is very good, and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend the mussels and the salmon.
The service is very friendly and always helpful. A definite recommendation for Roundstone and the West of Ireland.

Well it's an institution. Been here forever. Brilliant service. Food very fresh. Great Guinness. Best in the off season. Great place to drop some conversation bombs.... 😈 went back this year 2026. I did notice shrinkage in portion sizes, so i'm small downgrading to 4 stars. I should not be able to easily count my crab claws that easily.

It’s almost a truism that the better the seafood product the less you need to do with it. O’Dowd’s presents an archetype of exemplary freshness and quality with minimal intervention. The seafood speaks for itself. I had some melt in the mouth fresh summer crab claws served with a generous but not suffocating amount of butter. Compared to a similar dish at a highly-rated establishment in Clifden, these were superior in all ways. Cooked freshly and well, not overdone or prepared in advance (which can lead to a certain tougher texture). A hint of garlic but not overwhelming at all. As a bonus, I sampled some red mullet as part of my partner’s fish and chips. A famously tasty fish. Fearing it would be heavily battered, I was grateful for the gentle crumb and pan fry which let the fish shine. All in all, a pleasant time was had by all.
