Owen Traynor in Oldcastle

Love the old world feel of this place. The little grocery shop when you walk in the door is a throwback to a time when pubs doubled as shops for small communities, and you don't see it much any more.

A place you must visit. Great pint and years of history on the walls.

Owen Traynors pub has opened up again 27 May 2022 after a two year closure due to Covid and has taken on new stewardship at the helm with Martin (aka Speedy 😀) , fabulous pub, steeped in tradition, its going to carry on the legacy from generations before. Live music in situ and you have a combination for a great live atmosphere. If you are visiting Oldcastle, this pub needs to go on your to do list over the Summer!!

I had a marvellous night in this gem of a pub, apparently those in the know call it speedies. Fact, its more than just a pub, it's a port, an island, a castle, in fact its a home away from home. I wish I lived closer! But maybe it's good that I don't!

Great open mic night on the first Thursday of the month, great talent, fabulous atmosphere and an auld drink!! What better way to spend a Thursday!!
