Excellent Italian cooking by a chef who seems to do everything alone and without even breaking a sweat. Gorgeous, perfectly cooked pasta dishes and delicious starters too.

The food here is unmatched in Athlone - it’s absolutely delicious, from starters to main & the wine is gorgeous. Our waitress Barbara was absolutely amazing and so attentive - thank you so much, delivered a fantastic customer experience. Would recommend here to anyone. 10/10 both food and service.

Found the place absolutely great.. staff very helpful and friendly food top drawer and very well priced definitely worth a visit again also was able to get a pint delivered from the bar next door had the steak with salad and mozzarella potatoes Nadia was just brilliant and looked after us so well

Cheap and cheerful. Pizzas good, thin base. Fries overcooked,. Desserts not fresh cream. We were moved table twice which was disturbing . Restaurant disorganised. I spilled wine on the table and was given tissues to dry it up. No salt or pepper on the table I took it from next table. The waiting staff pleasant and in uniform. The restaurant would be more inviting if the elderly man (owner) were not in jogging pants and hoddie. Some type of uniform would do justice. Hope this helps.

Pittzas were good. Restaurant a bit disorganised, we were moved table twice, Deserts not fresh cream . Affogato should have biscuits and liquor, not proper affogato. Waitress and waiter friendly and helpful. It would do justice to this restaurant if the proprietor would be dressed in suitable restaurant code. Any restaurant I have been to, there is a presentable looking dress code.

24/06/2025: Nice private outdoor seating ranging from tables of 4/6 to table of 2. Myself and my partner got a nice little table for 2 outdoors. It was lovely and intimate as we were facing each other. It was a beautiful evening. Nice quiet atmosphere. Cocktails were fantastic. The staff are amazing at their job. The manager an absolute gentleman. Customer service 10/10. Great deal on the ‘cocktail tree’ for €45 where you get 6 cocktails from a designated cocktail menu. Individual cocktail price is €9, so it’s worth it. We really enjoyed our evening and would 100% recommend.
22/06/2025: Nice place for food and cocktails but definitely on the pricer side. Food was been a bit hit and miss the last time I was there, so hopefully they will sort out whatever is going on in the kitchen.

The Prince Bar, menu

28/01/2025: Wonderful hotel with AMAZING staff. A group of us had a wonderful stay in The Price of Wales to celebrate mid-term and meeting up after covid. We had a beautiful lunch with wonderful service from an amazing lady, we had such much fun and laughs over lunch. Later, we had a beautiful evening meal in the bar followed by cocktails. The young man working the night shift warmly welcomed us back after a few hours hanging out in the local bars. He was so friendly and helpful despite the late hour. Rooms were spotlessly clean. The shower and coffee machine were both brand new. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a central location,free parking, amazing staff. We will return. Thank you all Monica & Co
