The food was fabulous. They also have a lovely medium bodied Portuguese wine, Esperāo Reserva Tonto. I recommend it. Oysters were very good and the accompanying sauce complimented them very well. Also, the lamb shank was cooked to perfection.

Impeccable service marred by a bland menu designed for the elderly. Over-cooked haddock, quality meat without seasoning or any crust, etc. it’s rarely packed so a good spot for a work dinner, but absolutely wouldn’t be happy to spend Michelin prices of my own money for food that’s a little better than The Ivy, a chain restaurant.
Great staff, good produce, but held back by someone who thinks “Irish faire” is all about being boiled & bland. I’d like to see what the same team could do with a more inventive menu, or even just really killer steaks.

Went for a family celebration. Wanted something special and we weren’t disappointed.
The hotel is immaculate and so well and tastefully preserved, a real classic.
We were made very welcome from the moment we arrived. Service was excellent, staff were very nice, very professional and attentive though not overpowering. The food was delicious and very well presented. An extra special desert was presented at the end to the person in our party we were celebrating, this was a lovely touch.
All in all we had a really lovely evening, it brought back some lovely childhood memories of when we would come to Dublin to see Switzer’s window and have lunch and a drink in the Shelbourne. I did in later years manage to stay there one night. The hotel still holds its magic and is by far the number 1 hotel in Dublin.
The hotel, service and food are well deserving of their 5 star status and more.

Delicious food, very friendly staff and quick to bring our food. Only negative was they were slow to take our order initially. Other than that, fantastic.

Have to say, was slightly disappointed. Of restaurants in the 5 star hotels in Dublin, this ranks last unfortunately. Had high hopes.
Service - horrendous. Really was.
Too many staff on for 4/5 tables, yet no one checking on you. Whilst English was second language for most, I genuinely had to repeat my order 3/4 times - waiter was just lovely though.
We had to ask for bread - which was lovely and butter at room temp.
Drinks, we had to ask a few times to be brought/ remind them.
The scallop starter - was okay. Very bland.
Crab started was very tasty but again, have had better and was full of shell which wasn’t great.
We had the chateaubriand to share- which was EXQUISITE, although we ordered it medium it came very rare, so I just ate around the blue bits.
We were told that it came with two sides, however the waiter got very confused and made us order 4 sides - we were charged for all. €28 total.
The truffle fries- please don’t bother.
The beef pie - lovely and creamy mash
We turn asked the water to round up the bill to €50 which he took as, giving them €50 tip- so we paid €80 more than we needed - again a language thing.
Would I be back? Yes for that steak
But probably not very soon

This is a large restaurant in a first rate hotel. We had breakfast in The Saddle Room every day of our trip. Service was friendly and helpful. A large and impressive buffet is supplemented with a small menu.
