No heat in rooms despite very cold temperatures. Plumbing problems and nobody to address the problems. Very disappointing.
And, the response from the ‘owner’ says it all. Condescending and disrespectful.
The ‘thermostat’ did not work.
Our travel companions had similar problems and, in addition, had overflowing toilet that required opening the windows. No exaggeration.
Didn't stay at the hotel. We did go to the gardens and we were blown away by the beautiful landscape. Stunning waterfalls, beautiful flowers and fun paths the kids got to run around in. There was some strange construction/supplies in one area. We went on the off season so we literally had the whole place to ourselves.
Beautiful gardens and location. The cafe unfortunately wasn't open when we arrived but it was march so probably not open until the summer months. We were hoping to eat there but the Thai restaurant was open instead and we had the tastiest Thai green curry ever! I definitely recommend checking these gardens out if you are doing the ring of kerry or passing by
The botanical garden was recommended to us on the Ring of Kerry route. We were there at the beginning of March and unfortunately the gardens didn't seem really well maintained. Some of the paths were not clear and there was dry grass everywhere. So rather sobering and the price of €9.50 p.p. not worth it.
Tranquil setting. Peaceful ambiance. Stunning views. Amazing plants from all around the world. Incredible food and wine. We stayed two nights, loved the room we were in, ate every meal at the Sala Thai restaurant onsite and explored the gardens. We were in awe of the diverse, abundant and vibrant plant life. We walked the rope bridge. We explored the beach. We relaxed and felt like we escaped to an oasis. Maybe part of the allure is its “off the beaten path location”. But as we explored the area by car we found we were close to amenities and more stunning historical sites plus the gorgeous Cliffs of Kerry. Kells Bay House and Gardens are a must see and stay. A true gem operated by an amazing husband and wife team. The food shows passion as do the gardens.
