Whenever I visit a restaurant my benchmark of good eating is whether I can make the dish better at home and in this instance I most certainly couldn’t. I had medium rib eye, cooked perfectly with wall to wall pink, seasoned to perfection, one couldn’t ask for a more perfect steak.
My partner ordered the Halibut, which unfortunately arrived dry and over cooked. We advised the server who promptly brought it back to the kitchen and advised another one had been popped on for us.
However upon their return they stated that the chef advised “the halibut may be slightly over cooked, as they would prefer it to be slightly over than slightly under”. Now I’m sure this could be interpreted differently, but to me this translates to “I don’t know how to cook fish properly”. Which, in a restaurant is completely unacceptable.
Starters were great, the desert was phenomenal and service exceeded expectations.
The chefs response however soured the tone for the rest of the meal.
A short menu which which manages to give hard choices. Wonderful considered food friendly wine list. Great front of house staff. All the food is excellent but some is outstanding . The chocolate marquise is stellar. I had a decaffeinated espresso which was not great. The only minor quibble in an otherwise joyous dining experience
