Squealing Pig in Monaghan

Having seen The squeeling Pig many the rally car over the years, got the opportunity to visit this eve. The menu had caught my eye earlier on line and it lived up to my expectations, the chicken with chirico sauce was delicious, really enjoyed. And the hake dish was thoroughly enjoyed by my better half. The staff were ever so pleasant, not surprising this venue has been on the radar for as long as I remember. Also I noted the list of awards adorning the wall of the town centre venue.

Great place for a quiet pint or food but doormen very arrogant at night called in on Christmas eve and place was full, waited 20 min for a table which I didn't mind and were given free shots . Ordered our food and starters came out pretty prompt but unfortunately we waited over an hour for our mains , food was excellent but member of staff could have popped over and apologise for delay but if won't stop me eating there again

Service was excellent and barman Martin was very helpful and quick to serve drink

Cocktails 10/10. (Slushy) Food 10/10. Staff 10/10. Service 10/10. Music 10/10. Highlight of my night is the Taylor Swift remix. Loves it! Amazing staff. great craic.

This is one of the best restaurants we have had the pleasure of dinning in, if in monaghan a must place to go to eat, we were not starving, but loved what we got to eat, fresh and perfectly cooked, great staff, we even had dessert because they looked lovely, and they were!! Clean and lovely decorating, 9% vat but not to expensive before that, can't wait to back again.

My wife and I split the Honey BBQ Chicken and loved it. I’d buy it again if I lived closer. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Porkys is , i believe, the best restaurant in Monaghan. Be it a weekend special occasion, or a mid week treat, business or pleasure, it just always hits the spot!. The décor and atmosphere are warm an inviting, and you always feel like the staff appreciate your business every time. The views are great , overlooking the town square, and the menu is wide, and varied. In a town known for great steaks, the squealing pig is the pick of the bunch. The Pork ribs are also a must have, as they are the best Ive ever had. Even if you only have them as a starter , try the ribs!!. Its a gem of a restaurant, great food very reasonable prices, and fantastic friendly staff!!
