The Abbey Tavern in Dublin

Nice place, the food is good in itself, the service is not unfriendly but rather careless. You have to wait a long time before you can order and the dessert was apparently prepared but then forgotten: the ice cream ball was already half melted when it was served. These are points that you as a customer have to be alert to.

We were a group of 11 people dining at Abbey Tavern in Howth. The food was excellent and the service throughout the meal was good — until the very end, which unfortunately left a bitter impression. After paying the bill in cash — including a generous tip — the waiter returned with a second bill, claiming they had forgotten to include some peanuts. We politely explained that the tip already covered that amount. Shortly after, the waiter came back, dropped the remaining cash on the table, and said in a very rude and sarcastic tone: “Here is your tip back. Thanks.” That gesture was highly unprofessional and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. A simple mistake regarding the bill is understandable, but the way it was handled was not. It’s a shame because the food and ambiance were great, but the attitude at the end completely ruined the experience. For this reason, I cannot give 5 stars and would not recommend this place based on our experience.

Chicken Caesar Salad here was GORGEOUS !! Done to perfection. My husband Jack ordered the wings and thought they were delicious. Lovely welcoming atmosphere and our server Nina even helped to recommend nearby things to do on our visit from Leeds! Exceptional spot 😊

Nice, authentic atmosphere. There are vegan and vegetarian options and the food was so delicious.😋 Our waiter was also kind and helpful.

The last time we were in Dublin, and visited Howth, we ate here. It was a fun whisky tasting, and food eating experience. We connected with some of the locals, and traded stories and received advice and directions gladly. This was a wonderful repeat of that experience. Except this time we were "the locals" that sat outside and conversed with the tourists going about their day; which was both fun and weird at the same time. The service was great, as usual. The food was excellent, with lots of options. The atmosphere, both inside and outside, were spectacular.

What a fun tavern. Came on a cruise excursion and we were treated to a wonderful meal and great entertainment. TY

The Abbey Tavern in Howth is a true gem: a classic Irish tavern with timeless charm, nestled in one of Ireland's most characteristic seaside villages. The atmosphere is welcoming and genuine, perfect for a stop after a walk along the coast. The food is delicious, prepared with care and authentic flavors: traditional dishes that really know how to conquer. The selection of beers is excellent, with local proposals that perfectly accompany each course. All in a comfortable and warm environment, where you immediately feel at home. Highly recommended for those looking for a true Irish experience, away from the most crowded tourist circuits.

The seafood chowder and fisherman's pie is outstanding!

Spent a cold ( sunny) afternoon in this Irish pub - our home from home local which we frequent in Spain! Howth is a lovely seaside town and this pub made the visit really worthwhile. The trumpet section at the bar had us all in stitches

If you come on a trip to Howt, you can't miss The Abbey Tevern. The fish and chips are spectacular with a great choice of beers. Super recommended!!!
