Great place to hang, amazing atmosphere, good pints and really good service.

So beautiful, cosy and atmospheric, especially the top floor with the old wooden roof beams, the dark wood wall panelling, and the big old windows overlooking the canal. Amazing decorations - numerous old photos, newspaper pages, music instruments… you could wander around looking at these for hours. Had a few Irish whiskeys here on a quiet late Monday evening and the staff were all great, especially Isabelle 🙏 The quintessential Irish pub in appearance and spirit - places like these are unfortunately disappearing in Dublin, being replaced by soulless ‘modern’ bars… Was told this building has housed a pub since the 50’s - I hope McCaffertys doesn’t ever change and stays the same forever 🍀

The pub/ restaurant is much larger than expected but with quaint smaller areas. Chose it last minute because it is around the corner from our hotel and open on a bank Holiday. Went there for dinner and had one order of fish and chips and one of braised Blade of beef which was very tasty. The only recommendation was to make the chips a little crisper. Otherwise wonderful including the dessert Eton mess which is a must do!

Great pub with multiple levels.

Fui a Irlanda para mi viaje de 50 días y esta fue la primera parada cuando llegamos a la ciudad y nuestro último bc IT era nuestro claro lugar favorito para tomar un Guinness y comer! La comida de marisco y el pan de queso son ridículamente buenos y Gabriel nos sirvió con un ambiente acogedor positivo y un gran servicio!

We spent last Sat eve in the Barge for my son"s 21st, we had plattersof yummy food & btls of prossecco. The bar staff were more than helpful & gr8 fun, a shout out to Antolio (who was only there 3 days) and looked after us so well, also Gabrielle who was so welcoming, helpful & friendly. Heard 2 gr8 bands and had a wonderful fun evening. Would certainly recommend for a night out.
