A good restaurant in a great hotel. But we didn't think it was necessary to book a table in advance at such a place. We wanted to have dinner at six o'clock, but they offered us a table until eight o'clock. We don't like eating late. We don't like artificial restrictions. The slogan of customer convenience doesn't work.
The river views are excellent.
The restaurant is part of the Sheen Falls Lodge. The restaurant itself is beautiful. At the beginning, there was a piano player who played pleasant background music. We had a table with a fantastic view of the river.
The food was very good.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the service. We had asked for a wait for the main course after the starter, but it came to our table immediately, like at a fast-food restaurant. I'm not used to that in a gourmet restaurant; even without being asked, there should be a short break between courses.
You get the feeling the staff is in a hurry to get rid of the guests, hence two stars deducted for the service.
