The Fatted Calf in Athlone

Food and service was good could not fault it.

Had a lovely meal here with friends on a recent trip to Athlone. Food was really nice, very flavoursome. I highly recommend the prawn starter and the beef salad. Service was excellent, very friendly staff. Would definitely go back.

Over 40 euro for a sirloin. I would expect a fillet for that price.

Probably the best meal I've had the service was great the staff are brilliant the food was next level fine dining but actually leaving extremely full without being pretentious head chef obviously has a great understanding of how different flavours work together ❤️

Four main courses, 2 glasses of wine, 1 Bottle beer, 1 cappuccino - €148. Lady portions, food was fine. If you're out for Sunday lunch try the Bounty or the Shack.

The food was tasty and well presented. Better than a regular restaurant but not quite on the high end of things.

The Fatted Calf restaurant in Athlone is a true culinary gem. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you are greeted by an extremely beautiful and inviting atmosphere that has been designed with great attention to detail. The atmosphere is relaxed yet upscale – the perfect place for an enjoyable dinner. The service is another highlight of the restaurant. The staff are not only friendly, but also extremely attentive without being intrusive. There is a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere that further enriches the visit. Now to the most important thing: the food. Simply outstanding! The meat was perfectly prepared – cooked to perfection and of the highest quality. The side dishes were also excellent, perfectly cooked and went well with the main course. Every bite was a delight and it's obvious that a lot of dedication and expertise goes into cooking here. If you're in Athlone and don't dine at The Fatted Calf, you're definitely missing out. The combination of excellent food, a pleasant ambience and first-class service makes this restaurant a clear recommendation. A visit is a must for anyone who is in the area and appreciates good food!

Incredibly high quality dishes, filled to the brim with flavour and unique pairings. The scallops, donuts and chili beef were delicious and staff were also lovely.

This was a lovely venue for an evening meal. Great food, very friendly and efficient staff and a lovely atmosphere. There were five of us and we ate all around the menu, including desserts. The staff even produced a dessert with a candle on it to celebrate a significant birthday and all staff joined together in front of our table to sing 'Happy Birthday'! Thank you!

Nydelig mat, hyggelig betjening og svært barnevennlig. Ettåringen fikk sin egen versjon av gourmet baby bowl. Litt trangt, og det tok litt tid før maten kom på bordet, men totalt sett synes jeg opplevelsen var verdt 5 stjerner. Prisnivået er også greit.
