The food was tasty and well presented. Better than a regular restaurant but not quite on the high end of things.

The Fatted Calf restaurant in Athlone is a true culinary gem. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you are greeted by an extremely beautiful and inviting atmosphere that has been designed with great attention to detail. The atmosphere is relaxed yet upscale – the perfect place for an enjoyable dinner. The service is another highlight of the restaurant. The staff are not only friendly, but also extremely attentive without being intrusive. There is a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere that further enriches the visit. Now to the most important thing: the food. Simply outstanding! The meat was perfectly prepared – cooked to perfection and of the highest quality. The side dishes were also excellent, perfectly cooked and went well with the main course. Every bite was a delight and it's obvious that a lot of dedication and expertise goes into cooking here. If you're in Athlone and don't dine at The Fatted Calf, you're definitely missing out. The combination of excellent food, a pleasant ambience and first-class service makes this restaurant a clear recommendation. A visit is a must for anyone who is in the area and appreciates good food!

Incredibly high quality dishes, filled to the brim with flavour and unique pairings. The scallops, donuts and chili beef were delicious and staff were also lovely.

Lovely place for lunch in the centre of Athlone! A bright space with quirky decor. Great selection on the menu, five people all happy with what they got. Service was excellent. Staff really friendly, super efficient & very accommodating when we arrived early & took our time leaving! Thank you!

This was a lovely venue for an evening meal. Great food, very friendly and efficient staff and a lovely atmosphere. There were five of us and we ate all around the menu, including desserts. The staff even produced a dessert with a candle on it to celebrate a significant birthday and all staff joined together in front of our table to sing 'Happy Birthday'! Thank you!

Exceptional food and service. We had a large group for a birthday party and the staff here couldn't do enough for us. Massive thanks in particular to Fiona for looking after us. We had the best evening 👌 Thanks team!!

It was one of the best steaks I have had in a very long time with very friendly and professional service to back it all up!

Great Food, Service was exceptional too! Highly recommend the steak and also the roast chicken. We shared the salted caramel donuts which were gorgeous with the chocolate ganache. Passionfruit Martini was also enjoyed by my girlfriend!

Nydelig mat, hyggelig betjening og svært barnevennlig. Ettåringen fikk sin egen versjon av gourmet baby bowl. Litt trangt, og det tok litt tid før maten kom på bordet, men totalt sett synes jeg opplevelsen var verdt 5 stjerner. Prisnivået er også greit.
