The Gap House in Moate

Pulled in here passing through Moate. Really enjoyable meal here today and I’d definitely be happy to come back again. I had the BBQ wings to start, which I’d give 4/5. The flavour was very good and the sauce was tasty, but the wings themselves weren’t quite as meaty as I would have liked. I think an extra one or two wings in the portion would probably have made up for that. Still a very enjoyable starter and they were cooked well. For the main course I went for the cod and chips and it was easily a 5/5. The portion was absolutely massive - definitely come hungry! The piece of cod was huge with a lovely crisp batter, plenty of chips and it came with peas, salad, tartar sauce and lemon. It was one of those plates that arrives at the table and immediately gets your attention because of the size of it. Very good value considering how substantial the portion was and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My dinner guest had the philli steak sandwich and was very impressed with that as well. He said it was very enjoyable and would happily order it again. Overall, a very good meal with generous portions and plenty of choice. The cod and chips was definitely the highlight for me and I’d order it again without hesitation. Well worth a visit - 5 stars overall.
