After our wedding at Kilkea Castle, we were so lucky to celebrate the next day at The Green Barn and it was absolutely perfect. From the start, working with James—the owner and our main point of contact—was a joy. He was responsive, welcoming, and made coordinating everything effortless, so we could focus on enjoying the day with our friends and family.
Having the venue all to ourselves made it feel intimate and relaxed. Guests loved being able to wander the beautiful garden grounds, gather around the firepits, and sit in cozy spots to chat and mingle. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of charm.
The cocktails and the food were nothing short of amazing. Everything was fresh, vibrant, and garden-to-table delicious—our guests kept raving about the flavors. It really felt like a celebration made for enjoying good company, stunning surroundings, and incredible food.
Overall, The Green Barn gave us the perfect way to extend our wedding festivities. Between the beautiful grounds, the firepits, the cozy seating areas, and James’s thoughtful coordination, it was a day our friends and family will never forget. We couldn’t recommend it more for anyone looking for a relaxed, beautiful, and unforgettable celebration.

Surprisingly good tapas place. Tapas were an interesting mix of Spanish and Italian dishes, but the quality was excellent (and being myself half Italian and half Spanish, I know what I'm talking about)

What a delightful place! You are lured in by the beautiful mouthwatering cakes and scones at the entrance, welcomed warmly by staff and sadly we only had room for coffee but it was good coffee!

Beautiful restaurant in a gorgeous setting. The staff were incredibly accommodating and had made special arrangements for my Dad who is very hard of walking. Unfortunately my Dad couldn’t make it at the last minute, but it was very nice to see how prepared the restaurant was for him! Our starters were lovely, really fresh and interesting use of the produce which is grown on site. Our mains were good, but not as nice as the starter. I think this was down to the kitchen being under a lot of pressure as it was busy and they were running slightly behind. This did not impact our enjoyment at all, and the staff were extremely apologetic - even though we weren’t left waiting very long! On a warm sunny day this place would be even better, as the grounds and outdoor seating is gorgeous. If you are in the area I would recommend making a visit here, even if it was to just wander the gardens and stop in for a drink/snack.
First time, very busy but worth the wait. The service from staff made up for it.

We were there for the mother's day set menu.
It was 65 a head.
A few things service was great, the food was very nice, however there was no veg with the pie and mash which was disappointing, the mash wasn't very hot.
My wife got the hake again the lack of veg was disappointing.
There was a charge on top of the set menu for tea and coffee. We were at Sha-roe recently and it was a cheaper set menu with tea and coffee included. That was disappointing.
We asked about the garden after and were asked to pay for it, we had just given 250 euro so we just left.
Very nice, but too pricey won't be returning with the extra charges as above.
