3 or 4 of the staff seem to know the menu properly..we ordered our food and then just before we had our dinner i was told that the sides I wanted were not gluten free ??why have them on the menu as gluten free ??what's changed from the last time I was there or were they even gluten free last time and I was just lucky I didn't order them??...train all your staff properly not just a few ...and get new updated menus
Why is it that there's always something sold out on the menu??and its always the same things ?ribs sold out ...last 2 times I have visited...mabe make more ...be prepared ??for owners that used to be chefs you would imagine they would rectify these things .
Stir fry is ok but packed full of veg...one veg though cucumber and only about 6 pieces of chicken ? A few other veg would be nice
Pricing is to high for what you get ...its trying to hard to be up there with the best but in actual fact its just a step above bar food...it wouldn't be a place you would put on your Sunday best clothes to go visit atleast not anymore .pity because it was a really good place for food when it first opened, and you could justify paying for it, but not now .standards have slipped ...for where it is its good food but put it in a small town with competitors it would be found out.
I only go because my wife likes some things on the menu...so I'm sure I will be back...mabe next time things will be different...but I highly doubt it
What a lovely restaurant the food was amazing. All homemade dishes the staff couldn't do enough for you the prices were very reasonable.will definitely be back.
My first visit here, but it certainly won’t be my last. Mags greeted us upon arrival and was so friendly, she really makes her customers feel welcome. The setting is beautiful. On a cold day the restaurant was so warm and comfortable.
On to the food….This was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Everything is cooked from fresh. I had bruschetta to start, the thai chicken stir fry for mains, and the baked Alaska with sorbet for dessert. Each course was bursting full of flavour, the quality and freshness of produce is very evident.
As for the staff…. Nothing is too much trouble. All are excellently trained and were so pleasant and helpful. We had a member of the group who wanted her veg and potato without butter. This was no problem. The staff simply couldn’t have been more accommodating. Special mention to Nuala who looked after us so well. She is such an asset to this place.
The old stone house simply has it all, delicious food, amazing staff and all served in such a warm and comfortable environment. The attention to detail is spectacular. It was my birthday and as soon as we were seated I was given a complimentary glass of Prosecco. A lovely gesture. Again at dessert I was given ice cream with a candle and the staff sang. Small simple gestures, but very thoughtful.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious meal. Compliments to the chef. Thank you to all at the old stone house for a wonderful experience
First visit here with a group of 16 ranging in age from 8 to 78! Couldn’t have been better from start to finish. Food (including steak, duck, hake, deep fried brie) was outstanding and service very attentive - Mags and Aoibheann deserve a special mention. In particular, our son with food allergies had a 3 course meal - this (unfortunately) is really rare but made such a difference to the experience for him and the whole group! Thank you so much!
