26/09/2026: An excellent and very moving museum. The National Famine Museum at Strokestown tells the story of the Great Famine in a powerful, informative and thought-provoking way. What makes it particularly interesting is its connection to the local area and the original Strokestown estate records. The story of the 1,490 tenants who left the estate in 1847, walking 165km to Dublin before beginning their journey to Canada, is especially moving. The displays explain not only the potato blight, but also the poverty, land system, relief efforts, evictions, emigration and wider circumstances that contributed to the enormous suffering experienced by ordinary Irish people. There is a huge amount of information, but it is presented in a modern and engaging way, with original documents, personal stories and exhibits that put real people behind the statistics. A sobering experience, but an extremely important part of Irish history. I came away knowing considerably more than when I entered. I would highly recommend a visit and would allow plenty of time to properly take everything in.

01/10/2026: The food, the music, the atmosphere the attentive staff all coalesce to form a magnificent dining experience. 5 stars not enough. Possibly the best restaurant up and down the River Shannon?

04/10/2026: We love this pub. The food, admittedly not cheap, is constantly excellent. If you buy the set meal during the week it's great value. A special mention to Sarah, who appears never to have a day off as she's always working whenever we visit. Great location but when it's nice weather or at weekends etc the parking can be at a premium. On site car parking but not extensive. We walk from Windsor Great Park along the long walk if it's nice weather.

03/10/2026: A lovely pub/restaurant. We had a 5.30 booking as we were heading home. There was 6 of us celebrating a big birthday. 2 women arrived and were speaking very loudly, so we felt we had to move tables after our main meal. The staff were very obliging, but it did slightly spoil the occasion.

18/10/2026: Highly recommend this lovely little cottage restaurant. The food is beautiful, delicious and good portion. Service is excellent!!! The menu is a unique mix of authentic Malaysian / Asian cuisine plus Irish / European cuisine. Very good value for money as this is a great culinary experience of top notch quality, creativity and service We absolutely loved our Sunday lunch here and would definitely come again.

31/07/2026: If you are looking for a great lunch spot, look no further than Norio's! I had a lovely portion of fish and chips with a vanilla milkshake today for just €16.50, which is fantastic value. The first thing I noticed was how pristine and clean the whole place is—even the washroom was immaculate. The staff were all so pleasant and friendly. It started getting really busy just as I was leaving at lunch hour, which shows exactly how good this place is. I will definitely be back and highly recommend it!

09/09/2026: Molloy's have been producing some super tasty cakes, breads and other fantastic goodies since I was a wee lad. I had the pleasure of working for the family back when they had the supermarket on main street and the sweet smell of freshly baked bread filled the air if main street from the early hrs. Since they moved to Abbey st to concentrate on baking, they've perfected the art of producing some truly magical treats. Me and my family look forward to our special occasions where we sit and decide what type of cake we want. Every request is met and nothing is left out 😊 So thank you Declan, Mary and family for making our special day's even tastier 😋

22/08/2026: A precious little place the people were very sweet and the pastries were great. Near the train station which is very convenient, tons of stuff you can buy to take with you or eat at the location. We'll be back.

24/07/2026: Just a one night stay but very pleased with our experience. Beautiful lakeside location, very spacious and comfortable room and excellent restaurant. The service in the restaurant was very prompt and overall staff were very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the pool although, being high season, it was busy. Would definitely come again.

28/06/2026: Huge hotel set on a lake. Fabulous pool and leisure facilities. Room was spacious and tastefully designed. Lobby on arrival a bit hectic and chaotic but the staff were very nice and got everyone checked in as soon as possible. Ate in the bar, it was fine not memoeable. Breakfast was very good.i would reccommend this hotel especiallt for families.

04/10/2026: Excellent petrol station with a wide range of food options I use this station allot, good, deli, coffee and clean toilets. Plenty of parking. Allot of changes in the traffic lanes. Cannot go right coming out of station which means you pull into paint shop next door to turn around.

13/09/2026: The most beautiful pub in Ireland—an absolute must for lovers of traditional Irish folk music. We spent a fantastic evening enjoying wonderful music and good Guinness. The night at the motorhome site was very quiet, and the landlord even brought fresh croissants for breakfast. We’ll be back.

04/09/2026: We had a super night in Andersons Thatch Pub. The athmosphere, the stories told, the jokes and last but not least the music. What a fab way to spend the night. Gene is a wonderful host, very funny and extremely talented musician. It was our first time there and we will definately be back.

25/09/2026: Absolutely amazing food - the best ribs I’ve ever had, ribeye steak cooked to perfection. Roger the landlord was great.
