The best restaurants in Roscommon

05/05/2025: Had dinner here the other day, while the sun was out. The views are particularly astounding in any weather, but with the sun out in all its glory it's fantastic. There's even a boat moared up, also waiting to go in to the restaurant. Then whilst my friend + I we're having our dinner, another bigger boat pulled in.

31/03/2025: Amazing food cooked to perfection, and the service was brilliant, we stayed there for two nights and the rooms were very nice

27/04/2025: We had a lovely stay here this weekend - couldn't fault the hotel and service was excellent. Staff were really pleasant and helpful, breakfast was lovely and it was excellent value for money. Thank you - we will definitely be back!

18/04/2025: I have been staying at Gleesons since 2001--24 years --and I can't say enough good about it. The staff, the cleanliness, the food--it's all the best. It's my favorite place to stay.

20/05/2025: A little gem in the heart of Roscommon! Comfy Café is exactly what the name promises — a beautifully cosy space that feels like home from the moment you step in. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming, and it's the kind of place where you run into locals and friends - home from home for me. The food is true comfort — homemade and full of heart. My go-to is the minestrone soup after a chilly dip in the lake, or the breakfast muffin for a lovely morning treat. And don’t even get me started on the fresh, warm scones... absolute perfection! Oh, and the coffee of course :)

19/04/2025: We had falafel and grilled goats cheese with chorizo salads. The food were great! The portions good!

28/02/2025: What a lovely café, we stopped in here passing through castlerea and what a treat! The food was delicious I got a goat cheese and roasted red pepper wrap and my partner got the pulled pork bap! The staff also were lovely!! What a great spot! We will be back again

14/05/2025: Went in for the first time in about 10yrs. It's completely changed. Much nicer now. Lovely people in there. But no pool table anymore.

11/04/2025: I attempted to have a business lunch, but the experience was overshadowed by a disturbing incident involving what appeared to be the female owner. She was openly scolding guests at a table for leaving an unfavourable review, speaking to them in a condescending and aggressive manner. At one point, she even told them not to speak while she berated them for sharing negative feedback. The entire scene was uncomfortable, degrading, and left other diners visibly shocked. It was an unprofessional display that completely undermined any sense of hospitality. Not somewhere to impress business persons or a relatives. Several times I have been there and found being ignored by multiple staff for ages normal routine, food choice menu is limited and usually takes long to arrive and then is mostly over or under cooked and definitely over priced for the experience.

23/05/2025: Great pub in Roscommon Town. We have been coming here for years, on our annual golf trip. Friendly service from, our friends Seamus, and Larry, great banter and laughter. Best pint of Guinness ever. It's a pity that there aren't pubs like this in Dublin. Looking forward to.next year already. John Burke

14/05/2025: Great day for my daughter's communion and having dinner and drinks with family. Rooms are dated, and their could have been more outdoor seating. Maybe pergola area.

13/05/2025: As the hotel is old, you can expect many "attractions" related to it. Unfortunately, there are many issues that are purely organizational, such as a kettle set connected to nowhere. The hotel has ****, but only because of the state of ownership of the swimming pool, which is very neglected. In the swimming pool changing room with 4 showers, there was no soap in any cabin. The state of cleanliness in the changing room leaves much to be desired, as does the steam sauna or swimming pool hall.

17/04/2025: Excellent service and amazingly friendly staff. Food is a mouth watering experience. Will definitely be back and highly recommend. Found this place by chance and so grateful that I did!!

22/04/2025: Bar is beautiful. The fire was lovely as it was very cold and wet outside. I ordered bbq chicken wings with a bluecheese dip, and french fries. My son ordered cajun chicken panini. My wings were dried out, and obviously not fresh today. They were served on top of a spoon scrapping OF blue cheese dressing, and drizzled with bbq sauce from a bottle!! The little sise salad was limp. The French fries were OK. My sons chicken was really dry aswell. I asked for more blue cheese as it was supposed to be dip and the waitress brought it then in a little dipping pot. Honestly, I felt that I was just getting left over blue cheese dressing scrapped on a plate- I'm not saying it was but that is what it tasted and looked like. I ate 2 wings and my son ate tge rest along with the chips/ french fries. The reason I scored a 3 star was based on friendly staff and lovely bar atmosphere. But food I'd only give 1 star. I would not serve that food at my own table, so I expected more.

20/05/2025: Very well maintained premises. Very clean , loads of staff keeping tables ticking over. Food hot and tasty . Toilets Very clean too. We will stop again

16/05/2025: I know Supermacs is Supermacs but.....this place is way ahead of it's game compared to other Supermacs. No fuss, no messing, straight in with the order and boom, it's at the table, even though they were flat out. Well done to the staff here. Bravo!!!
