22/05/2025: A little gem and so worth a visit. So welcoming. Amazing food, awesome staff and a beautiful, quaint setting. This place has it all. We had duck / citrus salad and fish tacos. All super. We will definitely call again next time we bike west.

The Silver Eel
05/05/2025: Had dinner here the other day, while the sun was out. The views are particularly astounding in any weather, but with the sun out in all its glory it's fantastic. There's even a boat moared up, also waiting to go in to the restaurant. Then whilst my friend + I we're having our dinner, another bigger boat pulled in.
31/03/2025: We had the pleasure of staying at The Silver Eel for two nights, and from start to finish, everything was exceptional. The staff were incredibly welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.
Every meal we had over the weekend was absolutely incredible—delicious, well-prepared, and full of flavor. The rooms were immaculate, spotlessly clean, and equipped with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay.
The owners are some of the most down-to-earth and genuine people you could meet. They went out of their way to check in on us and ensure we were well looked after, which made our stay even more special.
If you’re looking for a warm and welcoming place with top-class food and hospitality, The Silver Eel is a must-visit. We can’t wait to return!

13/06/2025: Usually have only good things to say been going in once a week for almost 10 yeras. \Last weekend we had the worst meal ever. Salmon was like a fish finger , curry thhat my friend had was awful and steak my friend had was burned. Waitress was rude and dismissive. Was trold by waitress that no managerb was available and to leave if we werent happy after 10 years was gutted. It was poor and I will not being going in again other than nto catch up with whoever is in charge at some point I paid 141 euros for a very very poor meal it was expensive and poor with atrocious service. Avoid

28/05/2025: Nice overall experience in a hotel. Good location, just outside of Roscommon town. Bit of an issue with the lock on the door, but was no hassle. Rooms are a decent size and kept in good condition to be fair. Would stay here again. Good value for money. Staff were nice and welcoming also.

and large portions, great service and value for money.

14/05/2025: Lovely restaurant at a hotel. We had no reservation but we got a table as it wasn't too busy, and the staff was very helpful.
We went for a dinner, and the food was delicious - the lamb as well as the seabass. The atmosphere is also very cozy and romantic.
I can only recommend this place if you are staying at a hotel or driving by
13/12/2024: Food was decent. Staff nice, but very unaware and not very attentive. Took 20 minutes to order dessert after mains due to staff not noticing we were finished mains. Asked for dessert menu, but had to ask a second time and a different staff member. When eventually got the dessert menu the staff member did not follow up to take order. Had to wait and try get attention of another staff member. Wasted about 20 minutes in total. Bizarre carry on 😅

Douglas Hyde Restaurant - Kilronan Castle

17/08/2024: We stayed in the castle and dined twice in the big room. The 8 course tasting menu was really fun and some of us got the wine pairings too which ended up in some new favorite wines. The breakfast buffet was the full Irish breakfast of course but 8 days into our driving tour, this was the first time we got a perfectly cooked fried egg since day 1. Kudos to Kilronan castle! The restaurant was kind enough to sit our 3 family party all together even though we had separate reservations. Thank you!!

Jacksons Restaurant and Guesthouse

13/02/2025: Only good thing about jacksons restaurant is the young staff that wait the tables. Me and my brother and friends will never go back to kacksons again and advise people not to go there. As the management t told my brother aidan and one of his friends that they were not welcome there that they were creating a bad atmosphere which whey were not as I was with them and that there was a lot off people wanting to come in in which there wasn't as they were the only ones in the front area and they were chatting and laughing and not causing any trouble at all. I personally would not go into a restaurant like that where the management would blatantly lie and tell me I was causing trouble by just going in ordering food and chatting to friends it is the hith off bad manners
