23/06/2024: Pleasant staff providing much needed tea & coffee as we journeyed towards Knock

18/06/2024: Friday evening. The person at reception was not at all welcoming during check-in. I asked a question about what time is the breakfast served and was told that it’s all written in the key pocket. My reason for asking was that I had to leave early in the morning to work in the hospital and wanted to know, if an early breakfast wasn’t served, was there an option to pack a bag with some pastries, fruits and juice as other hotel do. There was no hand-wash soap in the bathroom so I asked at the bar as there was no one at reception. I was told that soap would be sent up to my room but it never arrived. I also asked about breakfast and the waiter said there should be someone at 7 am to get some cereals. Saturday morning I tried to take a shower but there was no hot water in the shower although I let it run long enough, so I had to take a cold shower. I then went downstairs for breakfast and was told by a staff member that there was nothing until 8 am . I asked for a coffee and was given instant coffee. Surely a hotel can do better than this? After work at the hospital I returned to the hotel at 4:30 and found that the room was supposedly cleaned, but there was no towel, shower gel or soap . The bottom sheet on the bed was creased as I had left it, only the duvet had been thrown over it. I rang reception, explained about the lack of hot water in the morning. I also asked for the room to be serviced properly. This was done. Sunday morning. I checked if there was hot water before getting into the shower but, again, there was no hot water. I rang reception and was told by the night porter there would be no hot water until 7 am. I explained that had to be in work at the hospital by 7 am, but he said there was nothing he could do but would inform the manager. When I went down to check out I sat down for a few minutes and an old lady passing by said rudely “if you are waiting for breakfast you won’t be served until 8 am”. I told her I was aware of that. Overall this was a less than pleasant experience. In today’s world it is not exceptional that people have to start work early and it cannot be too difficult to organise, on request, a small bag with, say, juice, fruit and a pastry for people who have to leave before full breakfast service begins. I have been all around the country and stayed in different hotels for work purpose but never came across such situation. I really don’t know what to say about hot water bring unavailable in a hotel before 7am, but I shall be interested to hear what you have to say about it.

19/05/2024: All good apart from the stupid lazy people who park directly outside on the road in a controlled do not park zone holding all the traffic up both ways because they can't walk more than ten metres why they waddle in to by a box of cakes.

11/05/2024: Amazing cafe, fresh tarts, buns, scones, cakes, coffee, etc. Reasonable prices! 5 stars!

15/06/2024: We came here on our way back from turf stacking in Roscommon. We were all starving and stopped off here on a whim. We were all extremely pleasantly surprised with the food here. Amongst the starters that we ordered were the vegetable soup. Prawn cocktail and garlic mushrooms and nobody was disappointed! The mains we ordered were the fish and chips, goujohns and chips, bacon and cabbage and chicken curry. The portions were enormous that we got the food boxed up to take home! That the waitress was more than happy to accommodate us with. To complete such a positive experience we got complimentary juice to the table. If I am ever back in Roscommon I will be back again!
