Absolutely blown away by this place. Top class service, waitress was so knowledgeable on the food, the ingredients and the wine. The food was absolutely top class. Was speaking with the owner who was so kind. Himself and the waitress made this a wonderful experience.

We had a fantastic experience at The Purple Onion. The manager took the time to explain the Wagyu steak, including how it is sourced from Monaghan, and also told us about the fresh seafood, which arrives daily from Killybegs. It was great to hear the passion and knowledge behind the food. The staff were excellent throughout the evening, and our waiter was absolutely brilliant friendly, attentive, and professional. The service was first class from start to finish. The food was delicious, and everything exceeded our expectations. We left very happy and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended!

We stopped here for lunch on our cruise up the shannon. It was so good we went back for dinner. Fabulous place with a warm welcome from all the staff

Attentive service. Gluten free options available with excellent quality and generous portion sizes. Great selection of beer and wine to complement the meal. What a gem of a find. Hope to return.

Top steaks and friendly service

I cannot stress this enough - if you are nearby, go here. Everything was incredible. Some of the most delicious food we've ever had. The rump of lamb? Incredible. The almond and jam bakewell? Divine.

Topnotch sea-bass pea/haddock risotto sublime. A birthday treat. It’s a great place to stop off on the way to Sligo or Mayo.

We were staying locally and this restaurant was recommended - it was excellent. Great ambience, friendly staff and really good food. The garlic potato side dish is a killer!! Would definitely come back. We had made a reservation and they were having to turn people away on a Friday night.
