A must-stop on your trip to Dublin and the Temple Bar area - If you're looking for less of a crowd, we went at lunchtime during the week and had great luck getting a table quickly. The atmosphere and staff were lovely. When we went, it was December so they were decorated for Christmas which added a really nice touch as well. We had the Cottage Pie, Lamb Stew, and Guinness 0.0s - All were delicious and the perfect lunch on a chilly rainy day!

Sunday afternoon, January 25th. Tradfest: live performance by the 3 Murphy sisters; great atmosphere, crowded, but definitely worth it. Great service, we'll definitely be back!

Fantastic for a large group if you book in advance! There were 14 of us and Jasmine (floor) served us. She speaks perfect Spanish and is super professional and organized! She knew what each of us had ordered, haha!

Great pub in Dublin. The vibes were cool and the food good but mostly i'm writing this review for the amazing guy who served us tonight. Polite and friendly! I mean give the man a well deserved raise cause we'll probably be back just for him 😂

17/01/2026: We booked a large party on short notice and the food, service and atmosphere were all amazing!
10/01/2026: First time dining at Matt the Thresher. Gorgeous decor and vibes and lovely staff. The service was excellent and the drinks were delicious. The night we were in was a little crowded and there were some very drunk, very loud tables around is which somewhat spoiled the atmosphere at times. My wife and I don't eat meat which somewhat limited the menu, she had the much lauded scampi and I ordered the vegetarian offering which was a squash gnocchi. The pasta dish was incredible, light, rich and delicious and a perfect portion size. The scampi, though very tasty, didn't quite live up to the hype or the nearly 40euro price tag. Definitely a good eat and a beautiful spot, but there are places to get an equally fantastic meal for half the price, so I can't give it the 5 star.

The Druid's Chair

15/01/2026: A lovely, typical Irish pub with beautiful decor. We spontaneously decided to eat here on a Monday evening. Despite it being a weekday, the pub was packed with locals, and we almost couldn't get a table. The food was delicious and the portions were generous.
