Nice, home cooked meals served in a welcoming setting. Expect standard Irish menu items such as Beef stroganoff or stew, Quiche and Salad, Chicken Curry, Roast of the day etc. Excellent value for money and generous portions.

Really generous portions of amazing home cooked food for amazing prices. The service is great, too! I really love this place and will keep coming back. It's worth queueing for!

The food here is some of the best home cooked food you'll find in north Cork. Prices are very reasonable for the size of portions. The owner was friendly and helpful with the food options. I had the beef stroganoff. I don't usually eat mushrooms, but I ate some in this, and the whole dish was lovely. The banoffee pie was very good too. We all really enjoyed our dinners here and we'll definitely be back to the Orchid soon as we live locally. Be aware that they don't sell alcohol here. I'm not sure if they allow you to bring your own wine etc. I will ask next time.

Excellent food at very reasonable prices, dine in or takeaway 👌 don't take bookings, but worth the wait. I personally loved their curry half rice half chips to die for, the staff are superb friendly and welcoming, I also had their burger which I was not a fan of, but the beef, cottage pie,and fish and chips where lovely, I will try the rest of the menu in the coming months but I'm sure I will not be disappointed.

Family restaurant with daily specials handwritten on a white board – always a good sign. The food was freshly cooked and great value for money. The roast beef was really tender, recommended. Kind notice for non-locals: this place does not serve alcohol or fancy drinks. It's just tea, coffee, orange juice and probably Coke/Fanta.

Excellent home-cooked food, simple but good and authentic. A restaurant that focuses on substance, not appearances. That's a good thing. They don't have beer (I don't know if they have wine because I don't drink it). Unfortunately, the owner/waiter wasn't as welcoming as almost all the Irish people we encountered. He was brusque and sometimes annoyed, for some reason. Anyway, everyone has bad days, and if I were to pass by again, I'd definitely stop and eat there again.
