The Silver Salmon - Grill & Seafood Restaurant in Ennis

Truly enjoyed our dinner here. The restaurant is housed in a historic building downtown with an elegant atmosphere. The service was polished and professional. Interesting and often whimsical art are located throughout. Best of all the food. Our crabcake appetizers were delicious. Not huge but filled with crabmeat (not filler) and fried to perfection. Highly recommend the fish and chips here, with delicious garlic fries. The fish (halibut) had a light, crispy batter with no hint of grease. Prices were reasonable for the quality of food, atmosphere, and service.

Clam chowder was a slightly too creamy for my liking however it was still delicious and has excellent ratio of clam to potatoes. Clam chunks were huge too in comparison / best clam chowder in the area in my opinion. Serving sizes were good too. Got the seafood pasta which had hefty portions of fettuccine and seafood.

The bartender was amazing! He was so kind and very personable. Awesome job, Joey!

The food was excellent. The smoked salmon was delicious. Really could've loved the place, but the bus person constantly interrupted us to take plates etc...very intrusive. The restaurant was freezing and music to loud despite complaining to staff about it. Never was corrected completely. These inconsistencies made for a less then desirabke experience.

I had the "Salmon Your Way", grilled, and my wife had "The Teres Major Filet". Both meals were cooked with excellent fish and meat, both cooked to perfection. My salmon was falling-apart tender, not at all dry, with very good, fresh flavor. My wife's wine-marinated filet with a mushroom port wine reduction was cooked to order, rare, and flavorful. Our shared dessert was one of the best dressed-up versions of a hot fudge brownie Sunday we've ever had. In my opinion, you can't get better food in Astoria, and you'd have to travel s long way to get anything comparable. Highly recommended!

Very nice people and great clam chowder!

Lovely place. We had the chicken tchoupitoulas and the Alfredo pasta, and both were fantastic!

We stopped at this place as it appeared cozy & welcoming. We were not disappointed in that area. The hostess seated us (3) quickly and was friendly. Our waitress, Hannah, was a delight. Friendly, smiling and very quick but not overly with drinks and food. Which brings us to food. There was a special offered that evening .. Halibut over fettuccine Alfredo with mushrooms. This dish was barely edible!! The mushrooms!!! Goodness - more like pressed partial board with a very strange pinkish color for mushrooms. Had we not been in a restaurant I would’ve spit this concoction right out!! Even my husband & son thought it strange and extremely distasteful. Hannah was able to remove it from our table immediately! The halibut was over-cook albeit only slightly but still… I couldn’t stomach more than 1/2 of it. Saving grace, if you can call it that, was the pasta…. I’ve had better Alfredo but at least I didn’t go away starving or nauseous. My husband had the Cajun salmon with baked potato - wise choice. My son had the salmon cakes which were also fair to good. Also, our calamari app was very tasty and fresh. My meal was so terrible overall that my recommendation would be to remove it altogether and spare Hannah the embarrassment of having to serve it. She tried her best so kudos to Hannah. Would we revisit? Maybe as the other meals were decent. Those “mushrooms” though…. It was definitely a meal that we should NOT have been charged for.

09/04/25: Been here many times, and rating is "6" [😉] stars for every previous meal. Tonight wife's Blackened Salmon was also excellent, as was her Caesar. My Special - Creole spiced Halibut w/Woodland Mushrooms - was rather tasteless overall. Thus only 4 stars this time. Must also add the Roquefort on my side salad might be best ever. Lesson learned...should have gone with one of my original planned options: Filet Mignon, Jambalaya, or their Steak Tips never disappoint! We'll definitely be back, which will likely raise my rating back to 5 stars. 😉 Still highly recommended!!

we got the other room to ourselves , so that was kind of nice . food was delish . I got the chowder with the cheesy bread . so good !
