The Snug Bar in Athlone

We booked the private room upstairs in the The Snug Bar for a hen party and it was the most perfect space for our group of 15 ladies. The staff were so welcoming and helpful and the pizzas went down a treat with the group. Highly recommend this space for a private area to have some hen games. It doesn't have a TV screen but has a surround sound bluetooth speaker.

Lovely pub with a warm relaxed atmosphere. NOTE: They do not do food but you can order a pizza from Pavarotti's next door.

A very cozy, old-fashioned pub, with a street and indoor, enclosed courtyard terrace, where you can sometimes catch a pre-music program in the evening. I didn't pay attention to whether they serve food. We stopped in several times to quench our thirst for a beer, because it was quite warm. They also make all kinds of beautiful cocktails. Yes, the courtyard is well protected from the weather, if you still want some fresh air. The whole place is quite cramped, so I don't know how many people can fit in, but judging by how big the bar is and that there were only 3 people working there, I think they can easily accommodate at least a large busload of guests at once, but don't panic, because there are 2 other great pubs next door, and you can find a 4th one about 100 m away by the castle or bastion.

Nice atmosphere and pint, pizza 🍕 was lovely and get some chips barman said they are really nice and they were.

The best pub we found on our one day walking around Athlone. Five star barman, both with the recommendations and the drinks, and the service of course. Lovely decor and cosy atmosphere. Looks like they got good offers for food as well, like a pint and a pizza. What could go wrong?! If I’m ever back in Athlone, I’ll be back to try it out!

Great atmosphere with live music on Saturday evening. It has everything you'd expect from an Irish pub. Simply fantastic. A must-see!
