Beautiful place to stay. Food excellent. Staff very attentive and friendly. Only thing that was lacking was the Christmas decorations inside and out. It was between Christmas and New Year we stayed a few days.

Stayed with my Mother for a night with dinner recently. One of the best experiences in my life. Both of us enjoyed every bite of the great meal. The staff were not just professional but down to earth and welcoming. Our room was beautiful and clean, and to top it off, we had a lovely little walk on Rathmullen beach after our breakfast. Looking forward to our next stay!

Truly amazing place with gorgeous views and beach right nearby, fabulous breakfast and cappuccinos, super nice staff, comfy beds and very nice and big rooms and bathroom. We ate dinner one night which was fabulous and well worth it. Overall great value and quality

Beautiful old house and location if slightly out of the way. The bedroom we had was large and the bathroom huge with an old-fashioned bathtub with ‘feet’. The restaurant staff were absolutely delightful and the 2 or three course meals, even if pricey, were top-notch. There was an issue with s night-time fire alarm but the hotel rapidly compensated us for the inconvenience. We probably wont be coming back for a couple of years but we will certainly consider returning at some point.

A fantastic location for a weekend away or a longer vacation/holiday. Staff are very helpful and friendly and service is excellent. Food is fantastically fresh and local.

11/09/2025: Fish and chips was delicious, tartar sauce is even nice and I'm not usually a fan. Lovely dressing on salad also. Fish portion a little small I thought but still good value for the price.

10/07/2025: We stopped at this lovely spot on our little road trip around the Atlantic way, it was a brilliant find. It looked so interesting from outside. The purple building with the craft stall, and sign with frieda kahla. We had two dogs with us and we were allowed to sit outside with them. We were welcomed by the lovely owner, who promptly told us there were fresh scones out of the oven and she had made apple and plum cake fresh that day. We were surprised the menu was vegetarian, but it was not a problem. The food was absolutely delicious!! I got the cheese and onion panini and it had mustard and relish and was so delicious. The cake was phenomenal! I also had a mocha. And it was the best I’d had this whole week! The stall out the front sells the owners crafts, there is lovely adult and children’s clothes. I got a dress for my niece and an apron for myself. I can’t wait to go back on our yearly visit to Downings!
05/07/2025: Lovely place for a break, all home cooked, fresh food, great selection of food and a very helpful and friendly service.
