The Terrace in Carlow

I've never liked the food in Dinn Rí, except the scones and coffee, but that's not why I go there. We were a bunch of ladies having an informal get together in the Library. We were able to hear each other, which is what we wanted. Clean, friendly staff, lots of room. Clean toilets. Cosy fire. This was a Tuesday evening 7-9:30pm. April 2025 update. Came to The Terrace with family for dinner around 4pm on a Wednesday. I wanted to show them how nice the Terrace is. Food took so long to get to us that I was getting embarrassed. Service at the bar was slow, also. One more mature server kindly put the heating on for my Dad. It looked amazing and generous when it did arrive. All 4 of us couldn't finish our different dinners - chicken wings/crispy duck/carbonara/chicken curry. They were overly sweet, too 'rich' to finish. The curry was straight up Sharwoods. Very unpleasant. The sourdough bread and the chips were lovely. Re: ACCESSIBILITY- I could enter from Potato Market into the back of Dinn Rí/The Terrace, which is at an incline, but no steps. Doors are wide enough. I've used the lift in Dinn Rí once before and shared it with kegs/bottle crates. They have wheelchair toilets which are clean and well maintained. Some areas are inaccessible due to steps, eg The Library. Verdict: as a group, we won't come back for food, other than drinks or tea/coffee. Pity, because it's a fantastic location.

Positiv: Food (pizzas) was good and arrived fairly quick. The young Gentleman at the Bar was also really nice and helpful. -: The waitress didn't care at all, wait for service was really long and she was annoyed at all the questions, we are not locals so i don't know the outside displayed menu is not available. Also she said we get our leftovers, then just clocked out went home and we never got them. They are busy chating tho.

Family of 17 were heading to Carlow for the weekend I seen the terrace online so emailed about booking, someone rang me nearly immediately and was so helpful and booked us in. We arrived and they had little cards on the table with happy birthday and my dads name ( really nice touch) the staff were friendly and so helpful and the food was amazing the portions were huge and price was the cheapest I’ve ever seen, great cocktails and every drink you could want, overall 10/10 would highly recommend and will definitely return thank you!!

Here’s a polished 5-star review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brilliant place! The pizza was absolutely awesome, and the garlic fries were AMAZING! We shared everything between us, and there was more than enough. Great atmosphere, loads of seating, and plenty of sport on the TVs, which made for a really relaxed vibe. Friendly service too. We’ll definitely be back!

I came across this restaurant by chance and was amazed by the beauty and decor of the restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the menu and the friendliness of the staff. In my travels through Ireland, whenever I am near Carlow I will not hesitate to serve something at The Terrace. I recommend it with confidence. Thank you to the staff

Came on Sunday afternoon, ordered pizza and dirty fries. We really enjoyed it. Also, the atmosphere is great, there were so many people even though it was not evening. Girl waitress was very nice too.
