Awesome place.

First time visit and certainly won’t be the last .. we were visiting birr castle and googled restaurants near by and decided on the Thatch.. one of the tastiest steak sandwiches we have had .. the two teenagers had a huge fish pie and bacon and cabbage.. all very tasty.
Plenty of Desserts to choose from and fresh and very tasty especially the bread and butter pudding. To be honest we got it hard to leave .. open fire , friendly staff and cosy atmosphere.. I can see why this pub has won pub of the year on a number of occasions. Highly recommended if travelling about the midlands.

Very tasty food, steak and salads are good! The shrimp are delicious, a variety of desserts and ice cream, excellent service. Recommended!

We stopped here after a visit to Burr Castle reading good reviews of this pub. We couldnt be more pleased. We were served by Barry, who not only gave us excellent food service, but also regaled us with information on the pub’s history. The food was excellent. The ambience was warm and friendly. I highly recommend the curry and the Baked Alaska!

Great atmosphere, delicious food, friendly staff. My family (5 adults, 2 toddlers) was visiting Birr and our host recommended The Thatch for dinner. Not only was the menu perfect for our dietary needs (1 vegetarian, 4 carnivores, and 2 very picky toddlers), but the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. The owner in particular made us feel most welcome.

The Thatch restaurant was absolutely superb! The food, wait staff, and general atmosphere was outstanding! My husband and I went there with a choir from Houston, TX. We enjoyed delicious food and a musical show! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys great food, excellent service, and lively music!
