Just a super place. Friendly, warm, inviting. Full of character with great food.

The restaurant was quaint and small. The experience was average.

Don't want to run the place down but €21.00 for a small amount of roast beef and a couple of scoups of potato was a bit much...wouldn't be in a hurry to go back unfortunately. 🤨

What a lovely experience at The Thatch tonight! Everyone was warm, welcoming, and went over the top to make our evening delightful. The food was delicious and portions were generous. We loved the desserts, and the special anniversary presentation from Steph was truly marvelous. Thank you!

Genuine hospitality and exceptional food in a 340-year-old thatched-roof pub, warmly run through the sixth and seventh generation family.

There were eight of us, and everyone was very happy with the food. The service was excellent. The ambiance is very pleasant, and Des is a great host!

If in Birr Ireland you got of eat here! What a wonderful experience! We all had a different appetizer and main course. Everything was delicious surpassing all expectations! Des the owner, sat with our party briefly and gave us some inside information on must see attractions of Ireland and a few additional dining a pub locations to visit.

We found an absolute gem! We went to The Thatch in Crinkill, Birr, and it was the most delicious meal we’ve had yet. We’ve been all over Ireland, driving through every county, and this is a “must go to” place for fabulous food, excellent service, and the most friendly people. The fish dinner I had was the best I’ve had in Ireland. My friend had fish and chips and loved it as well. The owner, Des, could not have been more accommodating and, in fact, he gave us some great recommendations of places to visit—our very favorite spots come from local recommendations. The atmosphere at the restaurant was just perfect. Sitting by a lit fire, we were able to chat as good music played in the background which wasn’t too loud. It was a cozy place. The history is so interesting—this thatched roof place has been in the family for over 200 years. We highly recommend it for a good meal or a pint, and are sure you’ll not be disappointed! Thank you Des and staff, for this exceptional experience.
