We had a fantastic breakfast and coffee. The café offers a variety of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options as well as lactose free drinks.

Been 4-5 times in the last 4 years and hits the spot every time. Cosy place, staff are always welcoming and friendly, great outdoor terrace and food is always fresh, and tasty. Hidden gem in Dublin. Thanks to everyone at the South branch for having us again. PS, get the fruit and ginger scone every time!

This is my fourth time here and it's a real treat. The food is delicious, and the staff, especially Christian, were very friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.

Delicious and filling breakfast. Meals were really tasty. Staff very friendly. We went to breakfast before 9am so it was very quiet inside. Only a couple min walk from our hotel. The dirty chai was so yummy! With a slight raspberry sugar dusting. The poached egg ordered with the sabiche wasn't needed since the meal itself was so filling. Egg was a little firm too but still good.

Visited here last weekend with a good friend of mine . We both ordered the Full Hubbard breakfast and it didn't disappoint . Neither of us eat beans and there was no problem substituting them for some else. The potato cakes are to die for . We also had two Chi Lattes which is made in house and delicious. But at €17 each for the breakfast it should come with a pot of tea . Please was very busy so I would recommend getting there early. Staff were friendly and helpful

First meal in Dublin and it was the perfect way to start the trip. From the airport to the resto to get some brunch. Simple yet really cute place with a cozy, welcoming vibe, and it wasn’t overly crowded which made it even more enjoyable. The food was absolutely delicious — the sausage really stood out and weirdly brought me back to McDonald’s sausages from back in the days early 2000 (no pun intended, it was just that good!). The bacon was excellent too, cooked just right and full of flavor. Everything on the plate felt fresh and well prepared. The service was friendly and efficient, making us feel comfortable from the moment we walked in. The place was clean, including the toilets, which is always a big plus. Portions were satisfying and great value for the quality. Overall, a relaxed atmosphere, great food, and nice service — truly a perfect choice for our first meal in Dublin. Clean toilets. Would definitely come back and recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Connolly's - The Sheds

05/05/2026: Really Love a relaxing beer in the sheds. Nice people and nice pints. They have a smoking area out back too with heaters, which is great! Been coming here once a week since I've found this wonder of a bar. Wanted to give 5 stars for food but they don't serve any. They do have crisps, bacon fries, scampi fries, peanuts etc. My friend has developed a bit of an addiction to Nobbys Nuts which have become very popular recently. I've no doubt if they did have food it would be top notch just like the beverages. As is the buz around the place, positive, chilled, great people, love coming here with the girls after work ♥
05/05/2026: Lovely little spot for a few pints. Always show the sporting events on multiple TV's. Good atmosphere, nice clientèle and outstanding pints and service. Bar workers are really nice people too. There's Some cool photos around the pub that brings you back in time. Coming back soon with my nephew who likes to watch Liverpool whenever they're playing.

22/02/2026: McGettigan’s on Queen Street feels like a pub that never needed to reinvent itself. This is the original McGettigan’s, opened in the 1960s by Jim McGettigan, long before the name became a global Irish pub brand. You can still sense that origin story in the room. It does not feel franchised. It feels local. When we walked in, an older gentleman was behind the bar. Calm, grounded, attentive without hovering. The kind of old-school publican presence that makes you feel oriented immediately. No performance, no exaggerated charm, just steady hospitality. The atmosphere was exactly what a neighbourhood pub should be. People sitting casually, talking in low steady tones. Nothing trendy, nothing buzzing for the sake of buzz. One television quietly showing football. The game was there if you wanted it, but the conversations were louder than the broadcast. That balance matters. Drinks were spot on. I had a Whiplash IPA, a good reflection of contemporary Dublin craft brewing, crisp with that slightly citrus forward edge. My friend went with Smithwick’s, the classic Irish red ale, smooth and malt-driven. That pairing alone tells you something about the place. It comfortably holds both modern craft and traditional staples without making a statement about either. We ordered Dublin Coddle, and that sealed the experience. Sausages, rashers, potatoes and onions slow cooked into something deeply comforting and unapologetically unfancy. Coddle is not photogenic. It is historical. It comes from working class Dublin kitchens, designed to stretch ingredients and warm people through long weeks. Seeing it on the menu in Dublin 7 makes perfect sense. It is culturally coherent. The menu itself was short and straightforward, around seven traditional dishes. No gastro ambitions, no fusion experiments. Just solid pub food that matches the room. What struck me most was the absence of theatricality. No curated nostalgia, no exaggerated Irishness for visitors. It simply operates as a pub. Given that the McGettigan name now exists in places like Dubai and London, it is interesting that this original location still feels grounded and unpolished in the best way. If you are looking for literary ghosts or a 200 year old time capsule, this is not that. If you want a dependable pint, warm service, honest food and conversations that feel like they belong to the people having them, this is a very good place to sit down and stay longer than planned. We came for a drink. We left feeling like we had stepped briefly into the durable backbone of Dublin pub culture.
