10/09/2025: Visited as a tourist couple. Lots of parking opposite the pub and spotted easily on the way into town. Nice decor inside, very authentic, a little dark since we were sat away from the windows, not an issue on the whole. Considering the majority of the reviews state that the service is 5 star, sadly, we didn't feel all too welcome. No hello or smile when we entered the building. Then when our drinks came, the staff member proceeded to throw the placemats on the table which was surprising and rude?! The food arrived soon after and it was amazing, we ordered fish and chips and massaman curry, couldn't fault anything on either dish. However, nobody came over to ask how we were doing and didn't offer any more drinks unfortunately. After we finished it was some time before staff took our plates, even though there was only us and one other table. we were considering a dessert but honestly didn't feel like it due to the poor service all round. Settled the bill at the bar, gentleman who took our payment was the most friendly and asked us how the food was and gave us a friendly smile. Think it was a one-off as the service is usually great from what the reviews say. Stomachs full but a little dissapointed on the whole.
01/09/2025: We stopped here for lunch on a tour to Galway. When we arrived (about 90 people), they were ready to welcome us. It didn't take long for them to bring out the food, which, by the way, was a long time since I'd had something so flavorful. The soup of the day was the best I've had in a long time, and the beef was also excellent. My friend ordered a burger, which she also really liked. The price was very reasonable for the portions and quality. I recommend it.
