Beautiful place though a charge to enter now whereas there never used to be. €7 adults and €5 children seems a bit steep really considering an hour is plenty as its a very small place to walk around

We had a lovely experience here on a mid-week afternoon. The museum/exhibition area has been completely re-planned and was very light and modern. It gave a very interesting and honest account of the history of the estate and the treatment of its tenants during the famine. The gardens also seem to be renovated since we were last here 6-7yrs ago. They are large with lots of colour and areas of formal gardens, and a maze , but also lots or various trees. It was lovely to stroll around even on the damp day we had! The gardens are surrounded by a wood and there are recommended 3km and 5km walking routes. Very reasonably priced too at €7 per adult. We didn’t make it to the coffee shop but this also has been renovate. A good excuse to return!
