Volpe Nera started strong with fresh oysters and flavorful nduja croquettes. The Bluefin tuna, served sashimi-style, was another highlight. However, the experience took a turn with the main course. The steak, the most expensive dish, arrived well overcooked despite being ordered medium-rare. When we raised this with the staff, the chef was dismissive, insisting it was perfectly cooked and refusing to recook it nor did they offer us an alternate dish as an apology even though the waiter agreed with us. This was very disappointing, especially as the meal was for a special birthday celebration planned two months in advance, and the bill didn't reflect the issue. We left dinner not satiated and feeling like it was an evening wasted - we will not be returning!

Update - tried neighbourhood menu and was super impressed. Spectacular lunch today. We have been visiting VN since it opened on our doorstep and have enjoyed good, great and average meals over the years. However today we fell in love again with an arguably Michelin star quality meal. Perfectly balanced tuna starter with a peppery citrus Ponzu dressing and micro herbs was historic. Followed by venison and Halibut - perfect again, with layered and nuanced, curry-flavoured saucing with the fish and punchy dark sauce wit the Sika deer. A masterful lemon cream blackberry and ginger biscuit was superb and zingy. A cheese plate was completed with nutty, crispy wafer thin crackers and quince jelly. The only problem I had with the starter and and desert was that they were over. An Austrian wine pairing for the fish and deep Italian red with the cheese completed the event. 1 Michelin star must be imminent.

He oído hablar de este restaurante durante algún tiempo y estaba deseando probarlo. Excelente servicio de comida estará de vuelta seguro. El demonio de la carne increíble seguido de una sobresaliente baba de ron. Una verdadera joya de un restaurante para tener en la localidad.

This is a special little place, with the most interesting and delicious food I've enjoyed in a long while in south Dublin. Really worth a visit. Beautiful service, exquisite food.
