We eat at Woodruff about once a week, and it’s one of the few places we keep going back to without hesitation. The food is always excellent — thoughtful, seasonal, and full of flavour. It’s clear the kitchen really cares about what they’re doing, but the dishes don’t feel overcomplicated. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. It’s a nice space to sit in, calm, modern, and comfortable and the staff are friendly and easygoing. You feel looked after without it being too formal. There’s a consistency to the whole experience that’s hard to find these days. It’s the kind of place you start treating like your local, even if it’s a bit more special than that.

As a vegetarian it can sometimes be difficult to find such creative, fresh, innovative and delicious options with such amazing attention to detail. I had the 'Beechlawn farm organic courgettes, romesco, gnudi, pickled grapes, smoked almond' main course and if heaven were me sitting on a cloud eating that dish for eternity, I would be happy!!!!!

Super food from start to finish, starters were delicious, cote de bouef was excellent and the creme brulee topped off a really special father's day treat! Compliments to the chefs and the incredibly friendly David serving us, great bloke, highly recommended spot in stunning Stepaside!

My mother and I, 2 fussy west cork women when it comes to fish, ate here last month to mark a very profound date. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived. Food choice was really strong, and we found it hard to decide from their seasonal menu which celebrated excellent ingredients for top Irish producers. The Fish main was cooked to perfection, delicately treated as it should be and the flavours were immense. We shared a delicious dessert - main part being a freshly made donut! No photos as we dove straight in. We were driving and the non alcoholic wine choices were very pleasant. All in all a very memorable meal, with zero pretentiousness, Dad would have loved it.

We had dinner for two last night and it's hard to report without gushing. We skipped starters, instead opting to share snacks. The house sourdough was chewy and flavourful and delicious enough we asked for the remains aa a doggy bag. Hake croquettes with kimchi were complex and delicious, without feeling overloaded with cheesy bechamel. Carlingford oysters were fresh and the little burst of heat from fermented chilli was just right. Organic crisps with anchovy, nduja and teriyaki sounded weird but tasted simply right. I had the sole on the bone with clams, chard, runner beans and tiny cubed fried potatoes. The fish was delicate, buttery without greasiness and the seasoning was spot on. I scoffed the lot. She had the pork chop and the taste I got with a caramelised onion puree was intense and savoury and about as far as possible from the sad, dry tastelessness that the words "pork chop" on a menu often herald. We drank a Didion Aligote from Burgundy. Lip smacking, mineral fresh and perfect. Service was just rightfor the location - the guys knew their stuff but weren't pretentious, were friendly and humorous without being overbearing. Without wine, the best value hundred quid I've spent this year. Already thinking about when we can go again.

I was passing by on foot and I was curious about this place, from the outside very nice and elegant ... within and after a few minutes I sit down, I think the owners are very welcoming, he explains the menu and a few more minutes to order. Well-kept and excellent dishes ... the only negative note is that I don't prefer the cutlery on the table without a support, because the table is Minimal, it has no tablecloth (but this is my opinion) I will definitely return to this place. I recommend you to go for those who want to have an excellent culinary experience.

Urbanity

31/07/2025: This review was due a couple of weeks ago, but I'm still enjoying the coffee I bought at Urbanity. Still, a few notes to help travelers while in Dublin. We were looking for a place to have a good coffee with breakfast. The family likes to eat heartily at the start of the day, and Urbanity did not disappoint. The menu is positively bold with an emphasis on natural and organic ingredients. I had a sourdough toast topped with avocado, mung bean, water chestnuts, and a soy and garlic pesto... Topped with an organic fried egg, and side bacon. This fill me in enough to board the plane back to Canada, where I'm regretting not having the chance to try other items on the menu. Now the coffee. My server at Urbanity presented me with a brew from Apaneca-Ilamatepec in El Salvador. I recognized the region from old travels, and I was happy to taste its coffee again. I want to note this region does not historically have a coffee culture, but has optimal conditions for high-altitude coffee production. The coffee here uses the natural method of processing produce by sun drying. Urbanity buys the green beans directly from the "cooperativas" to roast them right in the store. So, I did buy some beans and brought them back to Canada where I'm still enjoying that amazing cup of coffee.
31/07/2025: Our first breakfast in Dublin and it did not disappoint! Great coffee, fresh and delicious breakfast plates with big flavors and portions. Service was prompt, polite, and professional. Great start to our trip. Thank you!

10/07/2025: This is for the renovated area in front of the Cafe. Lovely sitting area for a sunny day like today. The coffee has always been pretty good.
